Aside from CSU, Wilkinson had scholarship offers from Wisconsin and San Jose State, although it is believed Wisconsin stopped recruiting Wilkinson when he broke his leg towards the end of the season. He also received interest from Cal, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, and has plans to visit Wisconsin and possibly Cal.

Wilkinson attended CSU's elite summer camp, and visited CSU's campus December 3-4. He received an offer based on his performance at the Nike camp and committed the week of January 9.
