Texas recruiting grounds were kind to CSU last year, but with TCU jumping to the Big East in 2012, one has to wonder the impact it will have on selling Texas preps on not getting a home trip. California may once again start to figure more prominently in CSU recruiting plans with Fresno State getting back on the Rams schedule.

Still, Florida will not be forgotten. With a former FSU Seminole (Todd Stroud) and former Miami Hurricane (Bernard Clark) on the Ram staff, CSU certainly has some Florida connections. However, while adding the talents of Charles Favors, Shaq Bell, and Nordly Capi in the class of 2010 are beneficial, Florida recruiting during 2011 fell a bit flat. Only two prospects from Florida signed in this years class, Charles Lovett of Tampa and Steven Michel of Orlando. Early indications point to a possible shift back to a west coast for CSU football recruiting.

While having his two sons play at CSU (TJ and Bobby), head coach Tim Borcky of Lake Highland Prep High School of Orlando, Fla. doesn’t seem like he is giving CSU the inside track on some of his very talented prospects. Currently, Lake Highland Prep has four prospects with FBS offers, but none seem to be mentioning they have interest in CSU.

While Orlando may not prove to be as rewarding the CSU staff is still going for some top talent in Florida. New CSU linebacker coach Bernard Clark has gotten to work. Offers went out to Jacksonville, Fla. Bolles High School defensive tackle Max Tejada. Historically, Bolles is one of the top talent producing programs in the country. In addition to Bolles, the CSU staff also popped into the Gators backyard to check out Gainesville High School defensive back Chris Bivins and athlete Tashon Whitehurst.
