It's finally official: Rams accept New Mexico Bowl bid to face Fresno State

The Colorado State Rams have accepted an invitation to the third annual New Mexico Bowl, Director of Athletics Paul Kowalczyk announced Sunday. They'll open the bowl season vs. Fresno State at 12:30 p.m. MT December 20 in Albuqerque. The bowl will be the 10th postseason appearance for the Rams in 15 seasons.

The Colorado State Rams dropped a tough first set and could never recover as the Florida Gators knocked them out of the NCAA tournament in a second round match at The O'Connell Center on Saturday night. The No. 15 seed Gators, playing on their home court, posted a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-17, 25-23) which put an end to the Rams season.

The Colorado State Rams, behind their senior trio of Mekana Barnes, Ashley Fornstrom and Jaime Strauss, posted a 3-1 win (25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19) over Florida International in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Friday afternoon in Gainesville. The Rams face Florida tonight, in hopes of advancing to the NCAA regional in Fort Collins.

The University of Colorado announced Friday afternoon it will move the 2009 Rocky Mountain Showdown vs. Colorado State to Folsom Field in Boulder. An hour later, CSU athletic director countered with announcement that the 2010 game, in turn, would be played at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium in Fort Collins.
