Rams pound Waves to improve to 7-1

Triggered by a 15-2 run midway through the first half and tenacious defense and strong bench play throughout the entire game, the Colorado State men’s basketball team returned to its winning ways Saturday night as the Rams defeated visiting Pepperdine 71-56 in front of an announced crowd of 3,843 at Moby Arena. The win pushed the Rams’ record to 7-1, which is the best since the 2000-01 season in which they started with an identical record.

Fresh off of a tough 71-67 loss at Kansas State on Wednesday evening, which halted a season-opening winning streak at six, the Colorado State mens’ basketball team plays host to the Pepperdine Waves tonight (7:05 p.m. MST, CSU Radio Network) at Moby Arena. The Rams will be looking to start up a new streak by exacting revenge on a Pepperdine squad that defeated them handily last season, 78-63.

Fresh off a solid 77-65 victory over IUPUI, the 2005-06 Colorado State University mens’ basketball team will be looking to do something that has never been done in the history of the school as they travel to Manhattan, Kan. to face Big 12 opponent Kansas State on tonight (7 p.m. CST, broadcast on the CSU radio network, televised in Kansas on FSN-Midwest, and in Denver/Fort Collins on tape delay at 11:30 p.m. MST on FSN-Rocky Mountain).

All-MWC football teams announced; Rams place just one on first team

A total of four Colorado State football players were named to the All-Mountain West Conference first or second teams, which are selected by the coaches and a media panel. Sophomore punter Jimmie Kaylor was the lone Ram placed on the first team, while senior wide receiver David Anderson, sophomore running back Kyle Bell, and senior offensive tackle Michael Brisiel earned second-team honors on offense. No defensive players made first or second team.

Swept Away: Washington Ends CSU’s Season In NCAA Tournament 2nd Round

Colorado State volleyball players will tell you that they played a good match against the Washington Huskies. But to upset the second-ranked team in the country and third seeded team in the tournament, CSU would have needed a flawless effort.
Washington advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year after sweeping a stingy Colorado State team (30-21, 30-25, 30-18) Saturday night in front of 1,842 fans at Moby Arena.

Rams defeat IUPUI 77-65 to continue perfect start

It certainly wasn’t a game to remember, but the Colorado State men’s basketball team became the first Ram team since the 1970-71 squad to begin a season 6-0 as they start-stopped their way to a 77-65 victory over the IUPUI Jaguars before 3,577 at Moby Arena.

Today, Colorado State has a chance to do something it hasn’t done in more than three decades: start a basketball season 6-0. The Rams will be looking to continue their torrid start as they host the IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis) Jaguars today at 3:00 p.m. in Moby Arena. The last time the Rams opened a season 6-0 was in the 1970-71 campaign.

No avoiding it: CU falls to CSU 3-1 in NCAA Tournament

Whether intentional or not, the University of Colorado volleyball program thought it would not have to face its in-state rivals from Colorado State after not scheduling the Rams at the start of the 2005 season.
But a strange twist of fate paired the two in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night, and the Buffs couldn’t avoid another hauntingly familiar outcome vs. the Rams. After dropping the first game, CSU rallied to defeat CU three games to one (26-30, 30-24, 30-19, 30-27) in front of a Moby Arena crowd of 2,917 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Colorado State University basketball team may be one of the best-kept secrets in the country with a 5-0 record to start the season. The Rams have recorded wins over in-state rivals Colorado, Denver , and Northern Colorado and out-of-state victory over SEC member Auburn. There are many reasons why the Rams are making early season noise, but none more important than the improved play at the point guard position.

Warden’s first Buffalo hunt an 86-83 success

So just how important was beating the University of Colorado women’s basketball to Colorado State head coach, and CU alum, Jen Warden?
She hung a buffalo in the locker room to remind her team how bad she wanted a win. Wednesday night, Warden and the Rams got that win, beating the Buffs 86-83 in front of 2,012 fans at Moby Arena.
