CSU hoops teams swept by UNLV

The men's team was feeble on the road again, dropping its 18th straight Mountain West Conference road game 68-57 to UNLV in Las Vegas Wednesday night. The once-promising season has taken a turn for the worse as the Rams are now 12-5 overall and just 1-3 in conference play. Meanwhile, the women's struggles continued as they lost 67-62 to the Runnin' Rebels at Moby Arena. The loss drops the Lady Rams to 7-8, 1-3.

Last week debuted the premier of “Glory Road”, an inspiring movie about Texas Western’s run to the 1966 national championship led by coach Don Haskins and the first all-black starting lineup for a college basketball team. After a rocky 0-2 start on the road at San Diego State and New Mexico, the Colorado State University Men’s Basketball looks to regain its winning ways the University of Utah Runnin’ Utes visit Moby Arena Saturday afternoon (2:05 p.m. MST, CSU Radio Network, no T.V). The Rams saw their overall record fall to 11-4 in the past week and will be looking to regain their momentum on the home court where they are 7-0 this season.

During the first 13 minutes of its game against the 20th-ranked New Mexico Lobos, the Colorado State women’s basketball team’s prospects for pulling an upset were sunny. But a steady rain of Lobo three-pointers quickly put a damper on those hopes, as they beat the rams 73-57 Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena.

Colorado State cut a 17-point San Diego State lead to one point with 2:46 to play but the Aztecs hit eight straight free throws in the waning minutes of the game to hold off the Rams 83-75 Wednesday night in San Diego.

With just over 4 minutes remaining in the first half Friday night, the Moby Arena scoreboard read Arkansas State 30, Colorado State 24. And the scoreboard was telling the truth. CSU was being played by the hot-shooting Division II Wonder Boys.
But something happened on the way to the upset.

Ram women fall to Tulsa

Despite a season-best 20 points effort from sophomore Sara Hunter, the Colorado State University women's basketball team dropped a close decision to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 69-65 on Friday night to open the Wells Fargo/UTSA New Year's Classic in San Antonio. The Rams are now 5-5 overall on the season, 0-4 on the road. The Golden Hurricane improved to 8-2 with the victory.
