Following the worst season in Sonny Lubick's tenure, Colorado State football players were largely absent from the 2006 All-Mountain West Conference teams and awards that were announced Tuesday morning. No Rams made the first team, and only offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg and punter Jimmy Kaylor earned second-team honors. Ten others made the honorable mention list.

The Rams has their worst season ever under head coach Sonny Lubick, finishing a miserable 4-8 overall and 1-7 in league play.

The Colorado State volleyball team fell to third-ranked and defending national champion Washington in the opening round of the NCAA Championship in four games, 26-30, 30-26, 30-24, 30-22. The Rams end their season 20-10, while the Huskies improve to 26-4 and move to the Second Round to face the winner of the New Mexico State - Colorado match.

CSU volleyball upsets Utah to win MWC championship

Likely facing a win-or-stay-home-for-the-postseason situation, the Colorado State Rams upset ninth-ranked and top-seeded Utah in the finals of the Mountain West Conference tournament to win the league title and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Rams beat the Utes, who were previously unbeaten in MWC play, dropped the first two games, but rallied to win the next three, including a convincing Game 5.
