As a current student and having read the recent athletic
department report it's clear we're lacking in tradition. An
obvious, and constantly brought up solution is bring back fum's
song which I think is imperative. We also need something for
the students to rally around, it doesn't even have to be original.
For instance i'm also a big Ohio State fan and at Ohio Stadium
they play seven nation army by the white stripes and everyone
in the student section jumps and chants along to that, it's an
amazing atmosphere (see the link below). I also know they do
this at Penn State and other schools. I wouldn't be opposed to
playing that and letting the student section go crazy. We have a
passionate student population we just have to give them ways
to build more of a connection with the football and athletics
program. I know it's obvious but tradition is what makes the
great football programs of the country ie Ohio State, Michigan,
Notre Dame, and also what makes their fan bases so loyal.
