2008 Awards and Rankings: Top 65 Rankings

intro |  trivia |  specialty awards |  rankings |  hall of fame |  history

Now that everyone is on the edge of their seat, let's get on with the Top 25...and let the gloating, moaning, and debating commence!

Here we go...the top 25, counting backwards...

Top 25

25. Trophy Ram — Trophy cracks the top 25 again this year – barely – despite the fact that he took some time off earlier this summer and has decreased his posting count. Trophy, who can sometimes engage in heated arguments on the General Discussion Board was fed up with a fellow poster or two, and decided to take a hiatus. We didn’t blame him for his decision, and certainly weren’t going to penalize him in the rankings due to his absence. Year-round, he is a solid contributor, sticking to his beliefs and arguing them with passion. As we mentioned last year, he seems to have two different personalities: the relatively tame Trophy Ram on the Ramblings Board, and the flamethrower on the General Discussion Board. He is widely respected, however, and is one of our top posters. Trophy has now landed in the top 25 for the second straight year after a four-year absence from the polls. It’s his fourth appearance overall, as he also made the top 25 in 2001 and 2002.

24. RamShoreman — RamShoreman is the less psychotic version of The Mace. Both love the Rams, both love Philadelphia, and both take time to smack talk with fellow fans about how Philly sports are better than Colorado Sports. In all seriousness, RamShoreman is a poster who spends a lot of his time on the boards, and has insightful viewpoints, deep knowledge of the Rams, and a passion for talking sports. He now has hit the top 25 in all three years since he came to the site in 2005-06. He was one of three rookies to crack the top 25 in 2006 (with a No. 22 ranking) before vaulting to an impressive No. 12 ranking last year.

23. 80sramfan — 80s is the ultimate love-hate guy. There is no question he makes our job harder every day. We have to constantly be on the lookout for problems he might have caused with a post. We have to field phone calls from the CSU athletic department, opposing schools, and media outlets over things he says on the boards. We have to occasionally clean up and delete some of his posts. In fact, we debated whether to reward him with a high ranking, considering he’s off his rocker most days, and he has a tendency to create headaches for us. Yep, 80s is a living car wreck, where bypassers cannot help but look to see what’s going on. BUT, despite the fact that many opposing fans and some Ram fans despise 80s, and scoff at his posts, people just can’t help but open and read them. He stirs the board up like nobody else. When there is a dull day, 80s can turn things around quickly. Sometimes we scratch our heads, wondering where he comes up with some of the things he says. But we also realize that 80s has a schtick to live up to, and if we had an award for “most read poster”, there’s no doubt 80s would be up for the award. Love him or hate him, he’s compelling! This is 80s’ third top-25 ranking. He earned a career-best No. 8 ranking in 2006, and landed at No. 21 in 2003. He's also been in the Top 65 every year since 2002.

22. Cowtown Buff — Cowtown’s stock continues to trend upward. It’s actually hard to believe he has cracked the top 25 for the first time, considering a couple of years ago, he was just another punk Buff fan littering the board. But, he has become a valued contributor to both the Ramblings and the General Discussion Board. He’s been welcomed and respected by most fellow posters. He is a solid conversationalist and a smart college athletics fan. He does tend to get a little more mouthy with the approaching of each college football season, but for the most part, he co-exists peacefully and keeps his smack relatively light-hearted. Cowtown spent the past two years in the Others Receiving Votes column at No. 45 last year and No. 64 in 2006 (under the name Boulder Buff).

21. Three RAM Night — Three RAM has been relatively quiet this offseason, but during season has become one of our favorite posters. In his early posting days, he was a good poster, but never really stood out from the crowd, and thus would mire in the Others Receiving Votes column, much to his dismay. However, with a concerted effort to step up his posting frequency and quality, TRN has become one of our favorite posters to read. In a period where CSU athletics have been down, and thus creating negative, uninspiring commentary on the message boards, TRN’s more positive, glass-half-full mentality has been a welcome sight on the boards. We love his subtle humor and his East Coast smart-mouth style. He has now made three straight Top-25 appearances after landing No. 16 last year and No. 17 in 2006.

20. State — State makes the top 25 for the second straight year after taking 19th in 2007. He has become one of the board’s most active posters, and we like him for his brutal honesty, his self-deprecating humor, his passion for CSU, and his overall conversational contributions to the web community. He’s a bit of a smart-alec and can be very funny at times. He’s also occasionally crass without going overboard. In short, he toes the fine line of decency, but that’s what makes him interesting and fun to read. He continues to post at a torrid pace, and combined with his good quality, could become an annual fixture in the rankings.

19. tweeter — This Hall of Famer will always be regarded highly due to the fact that he is the resident recruiting guru on the site. He has been less active in recent years, but did pick up his posting efforts in 2007-08 after a No. 30 ranking last year. Tweeter isn’t just a recruiting guy, but also offers intelligent discussion to both football and basketball, and carries significant clout in his opinions. As most of you know, Tweeter also develops and keeps the RamNation recruiting database up to date. He returns to the top 25 after is one-year hiatus last year. Dating back to 2002, he made the Top 25 five straight years (No. 14 in 2006, No. 15 in 2005, No. 6 in 2004, No. 7 in 2003, and No. 19 in 2002) and now adds this No. 19 ranking.

18. Dubya Why Oh — I still recall a trip to Laramie about eight years ago. Wyo fans were doing their usual “W-Y-O” chant, and their was one skinny, mustached Ram fan who would yell “stiiiiiiiiiiiiinks” after every “W-Y-O” chant. It was humorous. That memory comes to mind when reading some of our own “Dubya Why Oh” posts, and we often say to ourselves “Dubya Why Oh……stiiiiiiiiiiiiiinks!”, because we sometimes have to clean up his messes on the RamNation boards. Truth be told, he has cleaned up his act over the years. He’s far from perfect, but we love his posts so much that we do our best to edit what we can, slap his wrist, and send him on his way. It’s hard to say what we like most about Dubya, considering he can often be snide and condescending towards Ram fans. But, we’ve always had the sense that his smack and anti-Ram commentary are done in good fun, as sports are meant to be. He’s had significant clashes with some Ram posters, and that’s never good. But, overall, his intelligent and witty contributions outweigh some of his negative attributes. At No. 18, Dubya suffered his lowest ranking yet, but still has four consecutive top-25 finishes since coming aboard four years ago. He was 13th last year, and No. 6 in both 2005 and 2006. He is still one of the best non-Ram fan posters we’ve got and one of the best posters overall.

17. Ramfucious — If this guy ever stuck with the same handle for more than a few months at a time, he might break out of his usual middle-tier top-25 rankings and move up the ladder a bit. He’s just too tough to track! We kid. But, Fushy did climb slightly in 2007-08 after somewhat pulling himself out of an overly negative 2006-07 season. He has used a tad more optimistic approach with the several coaching changes at CSU, and has seemed to get a little pep back in his step. Fushy is a passionate fan who spend a ton of time on the boards. He has even attempted to impose a self-ban in which he’s not allowed to check the website unless on lunch break or at night. It’s a noble effort, but he seemingly cannot resist the lure of conversing with fellow Ram fans about football, basketball, politics, and everything else. Fushy is also one of the biggest and most passionate contributors to the General Discussion Board. Overall, it was simply another yeoman performance for the veteran poster. This is Ramfucious’ fifth straight top-25 ranking after finishing No. 21 last year (under the name “Here Comes The Predator”), earning his highest ranking ever in 2006 at No. 12, and collecting back-to-back No. 23 finishes in 2005 and 2004.

16. LoboDogg — Dubya isn’t going to like the fact that fellow non-Ram fan loboDogg ranks higher than him for the third straight year. But, Dubya could stand to learn a few things from LD…mainly don’t torque off the host fan base so much. Lobo and Dubya are similarly solid posters. Both have loyalties towards CSU’s rival schools, have great takes, can be funny, and provide entertainment value to the board. But, Lobo minds his manners a tad bit better, and thus, continues to hold the edge. Not to mention, it’s easier to give the nod to a non-Cowboy fan…especially one that posts such lovely pictures each Friday afternoon on the General Discussion Board. In all seriousness, Lobo is a great member of the web community and has even joined up with fellow RamNationers at local events. His ranking dropped slightly this year after being in the top 10 in each of his first two years. In 2006, he earned the highest ranking ever by a non-Ram poster at No. 5 (and did so as a Rookie, marking just the fourth time ever that a rookie has finished in the Top 5) and in 2007 he finished at No. 9.

15. CSU Fizzer — CSU Fizzer is quickly becoming one of our favorite posters. He doesn’t show up as regularly as most of the posters in our top 25, but when he does, people listen. CSU Fizzer has connections in the football program and athletic department, and often has great inside scoops for the board. His insights often keep RamNation readers ahead of the curve, finding out behind-the-scenes details before they hit the press. Fizzer is also a good source for football recruiting information, player personnel analysis, and overall Xs and Os discussion. His leap to No. 15 this year is a huge ascent from his previous personal best of No. 47 (last year). Fizzer has been in the Others Receiving Votes category for the past three years, but this is his first top-25 appearance.

14. Million Miles Ram — Million Miles Ram is one of our better basketball posters, clearly owning a connection to the basketball program. He often shares information with our community that doesn’t hit the media days later. And, he’s proven extremely credible. It’s one thing to make claims and spread rumors, but MMR does his homework and doesn’t share a juicy tidbit unless he knows it is legit. When he’s not partaking in in-depth discussions of the Rams, he’s also good for one-liners and comedic relief. This is MMR’s second appearance in the top 25, as he landed No. 22 last year (under the name John J. Fitzpatrick).

13. bunsbuggy — This ranking may not sit well with Buns, who has been eagerly anticipating the rankings since last year’s poll came out. For the first time in his career, he has dropped out of the top 10. Honestly, we have no real knocks on Buns this year. He’s been well behaved for the most part, and he’s been his typical sharp, creative, witty self. But, in a year that didn’t have a whole lot of great sports talk to get into (due to poor CSU performances across the board), Buns’ usual schtick got somewhat muddled among the rest of the daily non-sports banter. Buns has always been a go-against-the-grain kind of poster, who doesn’t shy away from being critical towards Ram coaches, players, and fellow fans. We like him for his call-it-like-it-is approach. However, this year, he didn’t stand out as much as he has in recent years, at least not enough to live up to his previous standards. Despite the drop, Buns has still proven to be one of the site’s best posters. He earned a No. 5 ranking in 2007, No. 10 in 2006, No. 3 in 2005, and No. 7 in 2004 (and Rookie of the Year). That’s five years and five solid rankings. He’s now eligible for the Hall of Fame, and one of these years could be a legitimate candidate. Who would have thought that when he first came to the boards?

12. donskys13 — This younger poster, just a year removed from being a student at CSU, started posting regularly in 2007-08. We’re glad he did. He has become a great presence on both the Ramblings and General Discussion Board. As a former Rocky Mountain Collegian sports writer, he’s got excellent writing abilities, and always has great takes. Better yet, he occasionally has some great insights and inside information into happenings in the CSU programs. He has quickly become a poster that is respected and well-read by other visitors. This is donskys13’s first appearance in the top 25, and if this year was any indication, we could be seeing him in future rankings for years to come.

11. Buffsin2008 — It’s too bad this guy didn’t get accepted into CSU, because he would have made a heck of a Ram fan. Honestly, he does know more about the Rams, current and years past, than many Ram fans. While he loves his CU Buffs, he’s still a cordial guest of the site, peacefully mingling with the Ram masses on a daily basis. Bi08, a former Rocky Mountain High School Lobo, likes to share his adolescent memories of CSU, and is a valuable contributor to the board in that regard, and in his ability to discuss the current state of the Rams and Buffs and all other sports. We love his commitment to the daily countdown to the Rocky Mountain Showdown too. Buffsin2008 is one of the few tolerable Buff fans, and he’s a good one too. This No. 11 ranking matches his career high and gives him four top-25 appearances in his career. He also earned a No. 11 ranking in 2004, came in No. 24 in 2006, and landed No. 23 in 2002. Buffsin2008 also paved the way for a group of four non-Ram fans who made the top 25, marking the first time that has ever happened. We had three non-Ram fans crack the top 25 in 2006 and 2007, and at least one non-Ram fan has made it in every other year except the inaugural 2001 year.

10. TheQears! — Qears has been a bit quiet this offseason, so it’s easy to forget about him, but his contributions during the football and basketball seasons are up there with the best our community has to offer. He knows the Rams, and knows sports in general. He’s funny, light-hearted, and pretty much sticks to sports-only topics. Who could forget his seemingly around-the-clock presence on the boards during the Rockies’ playoff run last season? Truth be told, his lesser presence this offseason hurt him a tad in the rankings this year, just as they did a year ago when he seemed poised to challenge for the No. 1 spot in 2007. Since joining the posting fray in 2004-05 he posted a Rookie of the Year Award and three straight top-5 finishes, and now another top-10 ranking. That gives him four top-10 finishes in four years, which puts him on par with the best posters in the history of the site. If he could ever avoid the offeseason lulls and eventually earn himself a No. 1 ranking, he would certainly be a shoo-in candidate for the Hall of Fame someday.

9. nateDiggsCSU — Our heart went out to Nate this year, who lost his sister Abigail to an act of senseless violence. Nate shared his first-hand heart-wrenching story with the RamNation community, captivating us with his unbelievable composure and touching remembrances of his sister’s life. Nate, who has been a regular poster since his student days, has one of the most level heads of anyone on the board. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get in arguments, and share his passionate opinions for sports and politics. But, this is one sharp cat, and we enjoy everything he offers to the boards. Nate breaks his two-year No. 11 ranking streak, jumping up two spots to No. 9, which is impressive considering he lives in Washington D.C. -- far from the CSU action in Colorado. Nate is a great Ram fan and a great poster for RamNation. This is Nate's fourth Top-25 appearance, after going No. 25, No. 11, No. 11, and now No. 9 in the past four years.

8. BVP for Heisman 03 — Sometimes we wonder why so many RamNationers have contempt for BVP4H03. We understand his occasional outlandish comments, predictions, and opinions. Sometimes he makes you wonder if he really believes the things he is saying. We figure sometimes he does, and sometimes he just says what he knows will drive his adversaries to the edge. As for this voting committee, BVP4H03 will always be one of our favorites. If we had an award for smartest poster, he’d win it. He’s an entertaining creative writer and storyteller, as our Post of the Year Awards indicate. And, perhaps most importantly, he knows the Rams inside and out. CSU needs more fans like him. BVP4H03 has peppered the top-25 rankings in recent years. Prior to this year, he was No. 7 in 2007, No. 3 in 2006, and runner-up in 2004 and 2003. His No. 3 ranking in 2003 was the highest-ever finish for a first-year poster. So, in case you’re keeping score, BVP4H03 has been on the board for six years, and has been ranked in the top 10 each year. This year’s ranking is the lowest in his career – and No. 8 is nothing to scoff at. In fact, when you view his career overall, BVP4H03 is one of the best posters we’ve ever had, and this year is recognized for it.

7. Chorizo da Hitman — Like BVP4H03 before him, Chorizo (formerly CAM’s Chorizo and Worst #6 poster in nation) makes you wonder if he really believes some of the things he posts, or if he just says things to rile the masses. Regardless Chorizo is an extremely passionate Ram fan – one of the best on this site. He’s not hesitant to tell you that either. Fact is though, he knows his stuff and is an enjoyable, worthwhile poster to read. He was increasingly more combative with fellow posters this year, and thus dropped a tad in the rankings. But, Chorizo is still one of the best around. Chorizo has now finished in the top 15 each of his five years on the board, including No. 6 last year, a runner-up finish in 2006, and a No. 4 ranking in 2005.

6. Newport Coast Ram — It is safe to say that Newport Coast Ram is back. Moves and job changes forced NCR into intermittent posting habits over the last several years, and the once-powerhouse poster missed the top 25 in 2006 and 2004 because of it. But, he’s seemingly entrenched as a mainstay in the rankings once again. He now adds his career-high ranking to an already-impressive resume that includes the following: No. 20 in 2007, No. 8 in 2005, No. 10 in 2003, and No. 9 in 2002 and 2001 (posting as WashParkRam). The long-time poster received some Hall of Fame consideration this year due to his career achievements, and we’re glad to see him back to his usual form. His posting style has changed over the years, from a once more pointed, Buff-hating view to a more rational, discussion-based, thought-provoking approach. We enjoy his even-keel debates and value his opinions, and now that he’s posting on a steady basis, he’s tough to beat.

5. Stalwart Ram — Like Newport Coast Ram, Stalwart is another long-timer who just keeps going. However, unlike NCR, Stalwart hasn’t had a single lull in his career. The Hall of Famer (member of the inaugural 2004 class) lives up to his name. With this No. 5 ranking, Stalwart has now been ranked in the top 25 poll in eight straight years since the website's inception. His resume includes: No. 5 ranking this year, No. 8 in 2007, No. 15 in 2006 (his only year outside the top 10), No. 5 in 2005, No. 8 in 2004, No. 4 in 2003, No. 1 in 2002, and No. 2 in 2001. An argument can be made that he is the best poster in the history of RamNation. And, he dates back to the old Ramblings board as well. So, this guy is truly a native of the boards, and an icon in the web community. What we love about him is the way he communicates light-heartedly, but also with quick-wit and sarcasm. In other words, he’s got great takes, and makes them enjoyable to read because he mixes in humor and well-intentioned jabs, particularly towards Buff fans. Way to go Stalwart!

4. Swoll Cracker — Last year, Swoll earned his place in RamNation immortality by being inducted into the Hall of Fame. He didn’t rest on his laurels in 2007-08. Swoll is the definition of ‘powerhouse’ when it comes to RamNation.com posters. Since joining the site under the name Go Duke in 2002, he now has earned a ranking of sixth or better in each of the last six years. He was a finalist for Rookie of the Year honors in 2003, earning a No. 6 ranking. He then was ranked No. 3 in 2004, No. 1 in 2005, and No. 1 in 2006, becoming the first poster ever to repeat as a No. 1. If you want great takes, sharp banter, and witty retorts, search for Swoll’s posts each day. We enjoy his passionate viewpoints, even if we don’t agree with all of them. We enjoy his funny way with words, his temperament, and his knowledge of the Rams in numerous sports.

3. CSU98 — We are glad to see CSU98 entrenched at the No. 3 spot for the second straight year, because it validates his somewhat out-of-nowhere performance last year. After years of merely lurking on the site, CSU98 decided to get more involved the past couple of years, and has become the most steadfast poster on the boards. He made his first top-25 appearance in 2006, landing at No. 21 before deciding to step up his efforts even more in 2006-07, which vaulted him to a surprising No. 3 ranking last year. He proved it wasn’t a fluke, as he came strong again this year, posting throughout the day on a near-daily basis, and doing so very well with great takes, contrarian viewpoints, and a level-headedness that is sorely needed on this website. He offers refreshingly optimistic viewpoints, while also playing devil's advocate like a pro. Last year, we noted that if CSU98 continues at his current posting rate, he will be a force for years to come. He is proving it to be true.

2. JoeyBtherealAD — In previous years, JoeyB would post in spurts. He still does, but he minimized his extended absences, so it seemed like nearly every day was JoeyB day on the RamNation message boards. JoeyB likes to “hear” himself talk more than anybody on this board. He plays up his schtick, and does it well. He can be a bit of a problem child, and causes our board administrators a lot of headaches cleaning up some of his posts. But, ultimately, Joey is a genius when it comes to stirring the boards, keeping people active, starting conversations, making us laugh, telling long-winded/far-fetched/semi-true tales that keep us wanting to read his posts, despite the fact that his username litters the entire page. He’s definitely a “hey everybody, look at me” kind of poster, but at the end of the day, he’s a great contributor both on the boards and to the web community in general. His 2007-08 season was nearly as good as his No. 1 ranking in 2004. This is Joey's fifth Top-25 finish, and all of them have been top-10. He earned runner-up honors in 2003 and took the No. 1 spot in 2004 before plummeting to No. 50 in 2005 returning to his usual self at No. 7 in 2006 and No. 10 in 2007. JoeyB is truly one of the most unique and popular posters on the site. He brings an energy to the boards that seemingly can’t be duplicated by any other poster. He is invaluable to the community and based on all of the above-listed traits and his concrete rankings over the years, JoeyB has earned a place in RamNation immortality.

1. Doc — We feel sort of trivial putting Doc atop this list. Doc was so much more than a great poster and web community member here at RamNation. But, the fact of the matter is, Doc WAS atop the heap as best poster, both in content, and frequency of posts, which is truly astonishing, considering he spent much of the year in an out of hospitals, recovering from surgeries, and going through all of the other trials that come with battling cancer. Despite occasional misery, Doc would be surfing RamNation, chatting with fellow Ram fans, almost as if it was his escape from the grim reality that enveloped him. We lost Doc earlier this spring about a year after he had been diagnosed with cancer. He lived his life in a manner that we can all learn from. He was a great family man, he served others, he treated people with class and kindness, he lived with passion and conviction, and he was a great friend to us all.

Make no mistake, this is no courtesy vote for Doc. He truly is one of the best contributors this site has had in its eight years of existence. He was smart, he was funny, he was engaging, he was interesting to read in all topics, he was passionate about the Rams, and he was friendly to everyone he chatted with. You can still find some of his old posts if you scroll back far enough on the General Discussion Board. (Boy, did he love those Rockies.) We miss his presence on the boards every day.

In 2006, Doc earned a rare place in the RamNation Hall of Fame in 2006. He ranked in the top 25 each and every year of the website's existence, and this No. 1 finish makes him only the second poster to earn the honor twice. (Swoll did it in 2005 and 2006.) Doc’s career rankings from most recent to oldest are as follows: No. 1, No. 1, No. 20, No. 11, No. 4, No. 11, No. 8, and No. 16. It’s going to be weird to not see his name on next year’s list. Death is the only thing that could keep him from his annual spot near the top. We miss you Doc!

=====================

Near Misses

26. TD Elvis — Elvis is a posting machine, but this year, kept the bulk of his posting on the General Discussion Board, which admittedly, our panel of judges spent less time perusing this year due to time constraints. We do love his quick-witted retorts and funny takes, but with less time on the main board, his visibility suffered and he missed the top 25 for the first time in four years.

27. Ram Master — Has great basketball insights, and occasional inside scoops for the board. If he posted more often, he’d be a shoo-in for the top 25.

28. camdog — Probably should have been in the top 25 based off his hilarious Cam The Dog updates earlier this year. He’s always good for a laugh.

29. zjb58 — Our former student powerhouse poster showed some flashes of his old self this year, with his in-depth sports takes, but his real job has clearly taken away his free time to post, and we’ve missed seeing the number of posts he used to bring to the board.

30. Ram87 — This former Ram athlete has increased his posting this year, and is a straight shooter. Loves to get to the point, and the point for him is typically Ram football. Shows a great interest in player personnel and recruiting and is a great contributor to football conversations.

31. le alpe d huez — Believe it or not, we really like alpe as a poster here. We know he doesn’t like the Rams, yet he’s still a tolerable guest who keeps his smack talk light-hearted and funny. He was on the verge of making the top 25, which would have made one-fifth of the membership non-Ram fans. So, for the second-straight year, le alpe is on the outside, looking in…barely!

32. I Bleed Green — IBG is a long-time poster who has seen his free time for posting diminish over the past few years due to work and travel. IBG is still a relatively frequent poster despite his schedule.

33. Kit Karson — KK assumes his typical ranking range, just on the outskirts of the top 25. His lone top-25 appearance came in 2003 (No. 16), but since then, he’s landed in the No. 29-No. 33 range each year. KK has been more optimistic this year due to the coaching changes, and his posts have been thought-provoking as always.

34. Dall Ram — RamNation/Ramblings veterans have to be pleased to see more activity coming out of Dall Ram this year. It’s still a far cry from his hay day, but to see him on the boards semi-regularly with his always-hilarious posts is a welcome sight. The Hall of Famer made quite a climb this year after being an honorable mention selection a year ago.

35. BeerFight — You gotta love his devotion to Buff bashing. He makes a nice jump this year after being honorable mention the past two years.

36. Phi Slamma Ramma — He’s kind of a negative-nancy, and somewhat of a know-it-all, but he’s a regular poster with occasionally good quips and interesting commentary. He has made the Top 65 every year since 2003.

37. RAM SMITH — One of our better, most insightful posters, particularly during football and basketball season. But has been largely absent during the offseason, which hurt his ranking a bit.

38. Ramdom — Ramdom has been off and on this year. During football season, he has great takes and wonderful insights and opinions to share. This offseason, however, we’ve seen him transform into an anti-CU crusader that seemed a bit out of sorts for him. Still a solid place in the standings.

39. Whadaino — Has gotten more involved on the boards this year, engaging in a variety of topics, both on the Ramblings Board and the General Discussion Board. He's a solid contributor, and makes the top 65 for the first time in his career after earning Honorable Mention in 2007.

40. commandZ — A well-versed Ram fan who is very similar to Whadaino, one spot ahead in the standings. However, he’s solely a sports talker, and rarely visits the General Discussion Board. He has gotten much more involved on the board this year, and thus breaks into the top 65 for the first time after spending the last three years as an Honorable Mention selection.

41. zstory — Will always have a special place in RamNationers’ hearts after posting a picture of his girlfriend’s butt a few years ago. But, ztory is also a solid regular poster with a variety of good takes and humor. He's made the Top 65 four years straight now.

42. sanfranramfan — This new-and-improved sanfranramfan is much more enjoyable now that he’s got a more positive outlook on CSU athletics. He still has his down days, but something about an optimistic sanfranramfan is pleasant! Sanfran has been in the top 65 each year since 2003, but this is his highest ranking yet.

43. lil zozza — Lil zozza continues to increase his visibility on the site, and offers sharp and funny posts on a variety of topics. He now makes the top 65 for the third straight year.

44. Big Apple RAM — Like Ramfucious, BAR changes his name more than anybody on the site, so he’s tough to keep track of. But, he is one of the sites funnier posters and he contributes both on the Ramblings and General Discussion Board. This is his second straight top-65 appearance, and he has one top-25 finish (No. 22) in 2005.

45. SYKOBUFF — Syko was ranked No. 50 in 2007, making the list for the first time. The devout Buff fan actually improved on that ranking this year as he continues to amaze us with his transformation from Buff fan jerk to amicable fellow football fan.

46. patentram — Patentram’s posting has declined in numbers over the offseason, but during season, he’s a spirited, intelligent fan who offers unique opinions and rhetoric. He dropped from his No. 28 ranking in 2007 due to his decrease in posting frequency.

47. RAMbler — These days, our long-time Hall of Famer keeps his posting gems mostly to the Ram Club Board. He doesn’t post often, but when he does, he a poster who you want to read.

48. JoninAZ — One of the most creative and talented writers on the board, Jon would no doubt be a perennial top-10 poster if he posted more often. Even in his limited appearances, it’s easy to see his exceptional skill. He’s intelligent and funny, and definitely has a way with words. This is his third straight top-65 appearance. Back in the day, he earned a No. 3 ranking in 2002 and No. 5 in 2003 when he’d post much more frequently.

49. ColoradoAggies.com — This guy has one of the coolest websites around, and if you’re a Ram fan, you need to check it out. ColoradoAggies.com often shares his historic tidbits on the RamNation boards, luring people into his fascinating site about the history of Colorado State University athletics.

50. RAM-I-AM — A fantastic development to see this year was the more regular presence of Hall of Famer RAM-I-AM. The former No. 1 from 2001 has fallen off the map over the last five years due to work interfering with his RamNation time. But, we saw him a lot more in 2007-08 and he resurges to the top 65, marking the first time he's been higher than an Honorable Mention selection since his No. 11 ranking in 2002. He also had a candidate for Post of the Year.

Top Dropouts from 2007

The 2008 poll featured less turnover than we’ve seen in recent years, as only five posters from last year’s top 25 dropped out this year.

25. Montana Ram – Snuck into the top 25 in 2007 thanks to a concerted effort to post more, but couldn’t keep the momentum going in 2007-08 and dropped to No. 56

23. Ram Master – A year after making his first appearance in the RamNation Top 25 in 2007, Ram Master slipped just a tad in 2007, barely missing out at No. 27.

18. TD Elvis – TD Elvis had been on a three-year streak of making the top 25, but missed out on his fourth straight, falling slightly to No. 26.

15. CSU Husker – Always an entertaining poster, we missed CSU Husker’s presence on the boards a bit this year, particularly during the offseason. He thus suffered the biggest drop of any ranked poster from 2007, falling 48 spots to No. 63.

14. camdog – Had his two-year top-25 streak snapped, barely falling out at No. 28.

Conclusion

As always, to honor our elite posters, each will receive a special icon to commemorate their achievement in 2007-08. These icons will be good until next year's rankings are released, at which time everyone will reset. The top-25 posters will have 25-horn icons, and Nos. 26-65 are honored with the 65-horn icons. Our new Hall of Fame inductees will receive permanent HOF icons, which remain alongside the poster's username forever.

As always, this website continues to gro, and the number of active and quality posters continues to increase. This makes our job of putting together accurate rankings becomes more difficult. I congratulate and thank all of you for your participation, as the RamNation message boards just continue to get stronger and stronger and full of entertainment each year. We have tens of thousands of visitors that come to our site every month, and now have over 5,000 registered posters on board, so if you have made the list today, you should be proud of your accomplishment. You are truly the elite of RamNation (either that or you have more expendable free time).

We do admit, and apologize in advance that inevitably, we will mistakenly omit a couple of deserving posters each year. As a one-person voting committee, it is nearly impossible to not let a person or two slip through the cracks while compiling the rankings. If you're upset about it, shake it off and come back stronger next year. Post more often, as it is much easier for us to remember you when the voting time comes.

Thank you as always for spending your free time on RamNation. You are what make this site great. Go Rams!
