RamNation Forums2008 Awards and Rankings: Top Posts of the YearThird-place post of the yearThere are many posts that could have been in this spot. Tributes and commentary to our beloved friend and longtime poster "Doc", who passed way this spring after year-long battle with cancer. Doc touched all of our lives, and many of us lost a good friend when he died. Guys like Swoll Cracker and others wrote beautiful tributes to Doc. We selected this tribute from CSU Rambunctious, whose post not only talked about Doc, but also the loss of Abigail Robertson (nateDiggsCSU's sister), and other things that have touched our community. Subject: Doc and all of RamNation.........
........One never knows how we might impact someone in our lives. Who would have thought, just 7 years ago, when Shep answered a random post on the past CSU Ramblings message board, how the reach of the internet would impact so many lives. The examples are so many:
2) Giving gifts of thanks to Tom Hilbert for his tremendous dedication and success for CSU Volleyball 3) Setting up an emdowment for donations to Trey Pepper Family in the wake of his departure via cancer, as was so wonderfully chronicled by Inverted Ram 4) Having an active role in the shadows of the Jenna Klussmann death. So many gave in response to her horrible departure due to a drunk driver on Easter a couple years ago. Andy and his kids are so well taken care of now. 5) The humble feeling I have where so many from around the country gave in the wake my of losing everything in an apartment fire 4 years ago March 31, merely 5 days after having been laid off from work 6) All the tailgater's that have served as a proving ground for creating friendships. Friendships that never would have had a flicker of possibility were it not for an internet forum on CSU RAM Athletics 7) All the live experiences which have been shared from the Road. Experiences at ULNV, Charlottesville, Salt Lake City, from the Rose Bowl, Berkeley, Phoenix, Dallas, Fairbanks, Ft. Worth, Albuquerque, New Orleans, Memphis, just to name a few 8) All the Alumni get-togethers in Ft. Collins, Denver, San Fransisco, LA, Dallas, Washington DC, Boston, to name a few. All from the reach of the internet message board 9) The reconnecting of former TEAMMATES and CSU Students 10) The Ramstrong Support for Marc Lubick in his battle w/ cancer 11) Lest we forget Karen Hammerschmidt's being taken away by cancer and all RamNation did for Dan and kids 12) All the emotional support given to Nate after the terrible loss of his sister this last December 13) The opportunity of our Brave Servicemen and women being able to stay in contact w/ their alma mater while serving the USA in Iraq, Afghanistan, Persian Gulf, and elsewhere 14) and DOC, for all you have meant to so many people in the Ft. Collins Community. All you have meant in friendship to so many whom you would have never met if not for technology and we the RamNation Family. All you have meant to your birth Family, from Missouri to Colorado and elsewhere. All you have given to Colorado State Athletics. DOC, you will always be w/us in the Colorado State University student and Alumni Community. Your presence will be missed. Your Spirit will live on to Eternity. We will meet again, DOC, in our LORD'S presence. You can count on it. ------IN JESUS NAME and GO DOC and GO RAMS----- |
