2007 Awards and Rankings: Top 65 Rankings

2007 Rankings
2007 Hall of Fame

Now that everyone is on the edge of their seat, let's get on with the Top 25. Seven members from last year's Top 25 have dropped out, meaning we have some some new surprises and surges. So, check out the 2007 rankings and let the gloating, moaning, and debating commence!

Here we go...the top 25, counting backwards...

Top 25

25. Montana Ram - Montana Ram eeks his way into the Top 25 after a one-year hiatus. His production had fallen off in 2006, and was sometimes sporadic this year, but overall, had enough appearances and quality showings to warrant a spot in the top 25. He knows Ram history, is a good-natured poster who everyone seems to like, and is a solid contributor to the site. We personally like his sarcasm, his funny and serious takes, and the way he goes about his business on a daily basis. This is his second Top-25 ranking, after having earned No. 18 in 2005.

24. BuffsIn2007 - Bi07 may be a better Ram fan than many people on this board. As a Ram fan growing up, he has many memories of CSU athletics history. His recounts of Jim Williams, analysis of past CSU recruiting classes, memories from the CSU field house, etc. all cemented his place in this year's Top 25. Despite the fact that he is a devout Buff fan, he still clearly holds a place for the Rams in his heart, and it must be a sizeable place considering his regular presence on the board. He's a good guy, who is light-hearted and fun to read. This marks his third appearance in the Top 25 rankings, but first since his No. 11 ranking in 2004.

23. Ram Master - Ram Master makes his first appearance in the RamNation Top 25 on the strength of his basketball knowledge, inside information, and overall discussion for CSU roundball. Known as one of RamNation's top golfers, he also likes to talk golf, as well as football and everything else. He's coming off an Honorable Mention season in 2006, and if he can continue to increase his post count, he could become a regular in the rankings.

22. John J. Fitzpatrick - John J. Fitzpatrick made an incredible jump this year from the ranks of the Honorable Mention in 2006 to the Top 25 in 2007. He'd actually be quite higher this year if he'd post more often. What we like about him is his matter-of-fact style, and accurate, inside information on both football and basketball. He has provided insightful information on both sports, and has broken several scoops on the message boards. He's been known to call out the local media for not covering the Rams to his liking, and has gone on mini crusades to get Ram fans to participate in radio talk shows. J.J. Fitzpatrick also has a dry wit about him that can be side-busting funny. This is J.J. Fitz's first Top-25 appearance.

21. Here Comes The Predator - It was a year of negativity for HCTP. With the Rams coming off a horribly disappointing football and basketball season, with essentially no changes to the football coaching staff, with the lack of wide availability of the MWC's television networks, HCTP had much to complain about. Formerly known as I've got a fevah, Ramfucious, and praisesonny, even his username went awry this year, as the player he was trying to honor with the latest handle change didn't exactly light it up on the field. But despite all this, HCTP remains one of the site's most active posters. We love his opinions, his passion, and his tell-it-like-it-is style. He continues to be one of the most active contributors to the General Discussion Board and is a valuable member of the community. This is Predator's fourth straight top-25 ranking after earning his highest ranking ever last year at No. 12, and back-to-back No. 23 finishes in 2004 and 2005.

20. Newport Coast Ram - NCR may be back to his form of old after missing the Top 25 in two of the last three years. The four-time top-10 poster has been hit and miss in recent years. His over-the-top hate for UCB often overshadowed his positive attributes. However, he has surprisingly spoken highly of his hated Buffs recently, since the university began cleaning up the athletic department, and since making some respectable coaching hires that he apparently has agreed with. This has made NCR a much more amicable poster, and instead of constantly digging the Buffs, he is discussing the Rams, as well as participating in heated discussions on the General Discussion Board. This is NCR's first Top-25 ranking that has not been in the Top 10. He was No. 9 in 2001 and 2002 (posting as WashParkRam), and No. 10 in 2003 and No. 8 in 2005.

19. State - Our resident heavyweight (his words) is makes his first appearance in the Top 25. Maybe it was the name change? This year, he simplified his handle from "RamFan1980" to "State" and while his handle now blends in more with the masses, his posting style does not. He's one of our most active posters, and brings a wide variety of moods to the board. He can be serious and critical, but the voting committee most enjoys his comedic side. His No. 19 ranking greatly improves on his No. 43 of 2006 and Honorable Mention selection in 2005. As he continues to be more active on the board, he continues to climb in the rankings.

18. TD Elvis - His near-two-year hiatus from 2003-2004 must have rejuvenated TD, as ever since then, he has come back strong, making the Top 25 for the third straight year. When he returned in 2004, he earned Comeback Poster of the Year honors, and subsequently has gone No. 10, No. 9, and now No. 18. Don't read too much into the slight drop off this year (where were the Beckinsale posts?). He's a great poster who is funny but at the same time exhibits serious edge to him. He is somebody you can count on being a general dissenter to the popular public opinion, which is valuable to a message board community. He is usually at the center of General Discussion Board blow-ups, but typically is cordial enough to get along with everybody.

17. Trophy Ram - Trophy Ram is the checks and balances source for RamNation. Often when someone states a post matter-of-factly, Trophy is there to call it into question. He is intelligent and highly opinionated, which makes him fun to read as he engages with other posters. On the Ramblings board, it stays relatively cordial. On the General Discussion Board, sometimes fireworks fly. He has many opponents to spar with on the GDB, but at the end of the day, it is clear everybody respects him and his opinions. Trophy jumps back into the Top 25 after a four-year hiatus that saw him on the outside looking in since cracking the polls in 2001 and 2002. He has been on the site for a long time, and continues to be a solid contributor.

16. Three RAM Night - TRN has really grown into one of the better posters on the Ramblings board. This is his second straight Top-25 appearance after several years of disappointment. He took the voting committee's constructive criticism to heart, and has come out posting with wreckless abandon in the past couple of years. You can count on him posting on a near-daily basis, and not only that, but he's a solid contributor. He's refreshingly positive, often funny, and sometimes brash, but always a great member of the community. We challenged him not to rest on his laurels this year, and he did not., slightly improving on last year's No. 17 ranking.

15. CSU Husker - CSU Husker, the dude who broke his ankle in a toilet and who lives in Commerce City and hates Highlands Ranch, makes his second-straight Top-25 appearance and continues to go strong. He is a funny, opinionated poster who is somewhat of a trend-setter. As mentioned in last year's rankings, Husker has been largely responsible for starting the "daily polls" that appear on the message boards, and the wildly popular "gay or not gay" questions. He is a maniacal participant on both the Ramblings and the General Discussion Boards, and we like him because he often cracks us up, but also keeps us thinking. His No. 15 ranking this year, is a slight improvement on his No. 19 ranking from 2006.

14. camdog - If you're a Ram fan, living in Phoenix without access to CSTV, The Mtn., or any other way to follow the Rams, you'd be likely to fall off the RamNation message boards. But camdog has stayed strong, continuing to remain in his comedic niche. He knows his Ram history, and tries to stay current with the latest CSU issues. He's not one to debate hot topics, but he's definitely a crack-up, both on the Ramblings board and the General Board. This is his second appearance in the Top 25, improving slightly on last year's No. 16 ranking. We envision he is a poster who gets up at 5 a.m. to beat the heat on the golf course, heads to the office for a few hours, kicks his golf-sandals up on the desk and surfs RamNation. His increasing presence on the board the past couple of years have been enjoyable, and he's now seeing the fruits of his labor.

13. Dubya Why Oh - Dubya may be 'Poke fan, but he has endeared himself to many Ram fans due to his relative friendliness, love of college football and local sports, and ability to interact in the house of the enemy. He essentially has completed his third full year as a RamNation community member and has recorded his third Top 25 finish. He came in at No. 6 in both 2005 and 2006, but dropped a bit this year due to some shenanigans that led to his temporary suspension. He's still a fun guy to have around, keeps us laughing, arguing, and thinking about the Border War. He continues to impress as not only one of the best non-Ram posters on the board, but one of the best posters overall.

12. RamShoreman - Two years, two Top-25 appearances for RamShoreman. Last year, he was one of three rookies to crack the top 25, and now proves last year was no fluke, jumping 10 spots up to No. 12. RS came to Fort Collins from Maryland, and brought with him a little East Coast attitude. While he clearly loves the Rams, he won't put up with any lackluster effort, and has been known to call CSU teams to the mat. The good things is, he has a valid argument for mostly everything he says, which makes him interesting to read, even if you don't agree with what he has to say. He knows football and basketball, his insights on the game are valuable to the board.

11. nateDiggsCSU - Nate hits No. 11 for the second consecutive year, but this one should be held in high regard, considering he moved away from Fort Collins to Washington D.C., and continued to post at the same torrid pace and with the same passion for CSU. We first got to know Nate as a student, then graduate, then business professional. It was fascinating to see his conversational expertise mature from smoking Js, to hooking up with chicks, to toilet comforts, to political preferences, to real-world issues, and more. He's become more active on the General Discussion Board than he has on the Ramblings board, but during the season, he is as good as there gets when it comes to Ram talk. He wears his emotions on his sleeve, has passionate beliefs, and is a true fanatic when talking about the Rams. He's a great young RamNation community member who hopefully will be around a long time. This is Nate's third Top-25 appearance, after having broken in at No. 25 in 2005 and jumping to No. 11 last year.

10. JoeybtherealAD - JoeyB is kind of like a binge drinker…he can go a week without having a drink, but then when Friday night rolls around, he feels he has to pound beer after beer until he is "HAMMERED!". The same could be said for his posting on RamNation. He'll go a few days without posting a single message. But then he'll show up and post 50 in a row-sometimes talking to himself-almost as if to remind fellow posters that he still runs the roost. JoeyB is a crackup. He has the gift of storytelling, embellishing truths, and posting outrageous comments to get people's attention. He's been the gracious host of the RamNation tailgate for the past several years, and is a valuable contributor to the message board, particularly in shaking things up and creating some activity on otherwise quiet days. This is Joey's fourth Top-25 finish, and all of them have been top-10. He earned runner-up honors in 2003 and took the No. 1 spot in 2004 before plummeting to No. 50 in 2005 and making a comeback to No. 7 in 2006.

9. LoboDogg - LoboDogg, the Fort Collins transplant from Albuquerque, loves the New Mexico Lobos, but finds himself in the top 10 of the RamNation rankings for the second time since he came to the site two years ago. How can a Lobo fan come in and make himself welcome among the RamNation community and voting committee? Well, aside from his friendly demeanor, love of sports, and ability to coexist with Ram fans, Lobo may have bought his way into respectability with his weekly "Friday Pics". His endless supply of photos of beautiful women in scantily clad clothing keeps message boarders in a frenzy until about 4 p.m. every Friday afternoon. In all seriousness though, he is a great poster who has interacted well with Ram fans both on and off the message boards. He attends CSU games, tailgates, and events, and if you didn't know better, you'd think he actually was a Ram fan. He's a level-headed guy who doesn't throw the Lobos in your face (well, then again, they are the Lobos), and loves to engage in talk about the MWC. Last year, he earned the title of the highest-ranked non-Ram poster of all time at No. 5, and he did so as a Rookie, marking just the fourth time ever that a rookie has finished in the Top 5 (BVP for Heisman 03 did it in 2003, Babybull did it in 2001, and TheQears! also did it last year.

8. Stalwart Ram - The longevity of this Hall of Famer is astounding. He is by far the most active poster of all the Hall's members, and continues to prove he may be the best poster of all time. With this No. 8 ranking, Stalwart has now been ranked in the top 25 poll in seven straight years since the website's inception. He's back in the top 10 after missing last year (at No. 15) for the first time ever. Prior to last year, he finished No. 5 in 2005, No. 8 in 2004, No. 4 in 2003, No. 1 in 2002, and No. 2 in 2001. He came back strong in 2007, showing why he is so well respected. He carries the banner as a veteran community members and with his intelligence, ability to debate, hilarious wit, and excellent knowledge of the Rams, he continues to make his mark in the RamNation history books.

7. BVP for Heisman 03 - BVP4H03 continues to roll along at a Hall of Fame pace. But even the greatest of posters can slip a bit. Last year, we asked if he could get over the hump and win the title. The long-term answer remains to be seen, but at least for this year, the answer is no. We have to ask, where were the frequent Bubba stories this year? Where were the highly detailed/entertaining spring practice reports? Where were the regular command-vehicle updates? Where were the inside scoops and outlandish predictions? Okay, well perhaps he still made outlandish predictions, particularly in relation to Jay Cutler. But, as you can see, BVP4H03 has set his own bar pretty high. Here he is with an admirable No. 7 ranking, and we're wondering what led to the downfall. That's what happens when you break into the rankings as a rookie in 2003 with a No. 3 ranking (the highest-ever finish for a first-year poster), and then earn subsequent runner-up finishes in 2004 and 2005 and a No. 3 again in 2006. So, five years, and his lowest ranking is seventh. That's an incredible run. With his quirky style, sometimes over-the-top intelligence, and creatively funny prose, he has earned many admirers, as well as a few opponents. But, he continues to impress the voting committee and is a staple in the elite group of the rankings.

6. CAM's Chorizo - For any other poster, a No. 6 ranking would be a welcome spot. But, for CAM's Chorizo, who went into the year as one of the top candidates to take the No. 1 spot, he is sure to be disappointed. To make matters worse, he was edged out by one of his rivals (see directly below), who has already been heard saying, "CAM's Chorizo is the worst 6th-ranked poster I've ever seen." Buns edged out CC in 2004 for Rookie of the Year honors, and now has the upper hand again with a higher ranking than his counterpart. All this aside, we love Chorizo. He is passionate, smart, and extremely funny. But, he has also proven to be combative with posters, and has especially been so this year, particularly on the topic of Barry Bonds. He has a tendency to fly off the handle, goes to the race card often, accuses fellow posters of "holding down the brown", etc., and that has cost him a little in the rankings. There is no doubt where Chorizo stands on arguments, and that's why we love him. He loves the Rams, and posts with is heart. He is a stellar poster who has finished in the top 15 each of his four years on the board, including a runner-up finish in 2006, a No. 4 ranking in 2005, and now this No. 6 ranking. That's pretty dope.

5. bunsbuggy - Buns admittedly doesn't go to games. He is withholding his donations to the athletic department. He rarely talks about the Rams on the message board, and when he does, it's usually to blast players, coaches, and athletic administrators alike. If these rankings were about being the best Ram fan, Buns wouldn't be near the top. However, as a poster, he is top-notch. He's been suspended, he's been ridiculed, he's been at the center of many arguments and controversies. He has certain posters who will no longer respond to him. He's essentially the bad boy of RamNation. He used to make life hell for the board moderator, but generally has heeded warnings of the past couple of years, and usually stays within the bounds of decency. He can be roll-on-the-floor funny, uncomfortably critical, and smack-talkative, and that's what makes him so good. Like him or hate him…and we get the sense that there are more of the latter around here, he has found himself a home in the RamNation top 10. He earned a No. 7 ranking and Rookie of the Year honors in 2004, a No. 3 ranking in 2005, and a No. 10 ranking in 2006. Sure, 2006 was a slight drop off for him last year. But, Buns is back, baby.

4. TheQears! - TheQears! seemed poised for a run at the top spot this year, after back-to-back Top 5 finishes and a Rookie of the Year award in the past two years. However, a lull in his posting habits this summer have cost him slightly. Not that there's anything to complain about with a top-4 finish. He has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with, and may be for years to come. Three top-5 finishes since joining the board? Wow! His strength is he LOVES to talk sports. No matter if it is the CSU Rams, the Colorado Rockies, the Colorado Avalanche, or the college baseball, he will dissect and debate with the best of them. His posts are thought-provoking and fun to read. He's also a gentleman who will engage in friendly banter and light-hearted smack, but never goes overboard to argue with others. While he may be disappointed to not earn the coveted top spot this year, he is sure to be a challenger every year.

3. CSU98 - In a surprising surge, CSU98 has leapfrogged some of the powerhouse posters and jumped all the way to No. 3. He surprised even the voting committee with his incredible 2006-07 season. He may have been the most active poster on the board, which is surprising as until last year, he had been a lurker basically since the site's inception. Last year, he began posting a lot more, and earned his first-ever Top 25 ranking, coming in at No. 21. He proved to be a valuable contributor, primarily due to his ability to debate topics, his devil's advocate style, his sarcasm, and typical optimism for CSU athletics. We also like him because he's an even-keel guy, who never flies off the deep-end as so many RamNationers do. We have really enjoyed watching CSU98 evolve into one of the site's top posters, and if he continues at his current posting rate, he will be a force for years to come.

2. Swoll Cracker - Last year, he became the first poster ever to repeat as a No. 1, and followed it up with yet another stellar year to nearly pull off the three-peat. Swoll may be the sharpest poster on the site, with deep knowledge of not only CSU, but a variety of sports. He is quick-witted, sometimes dissenting, and always thought-provoking. He has a gift of looking at things differently from the rest of the crowd, and even the most disagreeing poster is often forced to say, "oh yea, Swoll is right". He ranked in the top six in each of his years since joining the site in 2002. Prior to his back-to-back No. 1 rankings the past two years, he took third in 2004 and sixth in 2003 (a year in which he was a finalist for Rookie of the Year). That's five phenomenal years, which have subsequently landed him in RamNation immortality.

1. Doc - Last year, Doc was inducted into the Hall of Fame, on the strength of his magnificent career that has included a top-25 ranking every year of the website's existence. His career rankings from most recent to oldest are as follows: No. 20, No. 11, No. 4, No. 11, No. 8, and No. 16. Now, in miraculous fashion, Doc vaults to the top spot for the first time ever. He did it not only on the strength of his excellent posting ability, wit, intelligence, and wide range of discussion…but also on courage and fighting through adversity. Doc was diagnosed with cancer just a few months ago, and has since battled through a major surgery and multiple treatments as he fights "the beast". But this life-altering disease has not prohibited Doc from spending time on the RamNation boards and talking about his beloved Rams. Less than a week after his major surgery, Doc was back on the board giving us updates on his condition and talking sports! His commitment and strength are admirable and unfathomable.

We've also seen a transformation of Doc in the past couple of years, as he's grown edgier and has been known to show a rare frustration at team performance…whether it be the Colorado State Rams, Colorado Rockies, or whatever. Doc was always a poster who diplomatically stated his differences, but rarely showed his angry side. That has changed a bit, but he still treats others with respect, and never loses his loyalty for the teams he loves.

Doc is an inspiration to all of us on the board and he truly deserves the honor of the No. 1 ranking. This may be the apex of his incredible career, and it solidly places him with the best of the best in RamNation's history.

=====================

Near Misses

26. le alpe d huez - Alpe finally gets his wish. Well, sort of. He always says "Just say no to goat horns", referring to the Top 25 Ram Horn logo, and while he won't be getting one of those this year, he'll settle for the Top 65 Horn logo. Alpe narrowly missed giving non-Ram posters a fourth entry into the Top 25 for the first time ever. Since he arrived in 2003 season with Honorable Mention status, he then finished No. 18 in 2004 and No. 20 in 2005 and No. 24 in 2006. He changed jobs which slightly altered his posting frequency, which may have hurt him slightly. But believe it or not, we still like Alpe despite his Buffalo- and Aztec-loving ways. It's easy to look past his ill-conceived allegiances because he's a funny dude who gets along well in the house of the enemy.

27. RAM SMITH - It's strange to see RAM SMITH on the outside of the Top 25, considering his excellent track record. His posts always considered for Post of the Year finalists (this year, he landed two including the Post of the Year), and his outlook and analysis on CSU athletics are always a fun read. Unfortunately for us all, RAM SMITH fell victim to a busy work year, as he went through long spells away from the board. Despite that, he was on the cusp of the Top 25. It is, however, the first time that he's missed the Top-25 rankings in five years.

28. Patentram - Patent watches the Rams from afar, and gives a unique perspective on CSU athletic programs. He was once a near-unbearable CU hater in which his disdain for CU showed up in every post and thus overshadowed his other qualities. However, after losing a bet with a Buff fan on the outcome of the 2005 CSU-CU game and taking a year-long hiatus from the Ramblings board, he's come back a lot more amicable and well-rounded. He returns to the Top 65 for the second time in the last three years.

29. Kit Karson - KK has always been one of our favorite posters. His posts are thought-provoking, and his arguments are always sound. He's the type of poster that you find yourself disagreeing with at first, but then after reading his arguments, you start to agree with his line of thinking. With more posting frequency, he'd be a shoo-in for the Top 25. But, he has not had a Top-25 finish since his No. 16 ranking in 2003 (as dRAMve). This is, however, his second-highest finish, edging the No. 31 ranking in 2004.

30. Tweeter - Hasn't been quite as active this year, particularly in recent months, but during recruiting season, he is a wealth of information. Tweeter had made the Top 25 every year since 2002 until this year, but still remains one of the most valuable RamNation posters of all time. Due to his incredible run, he has been given a high honor this year.

31. Inverted Ram - Inverted has some excellent qualities, and is a great poster. He also has a tendency to let guys get under his skin, and in the process of rebuking certain posters, gets a little off kilter, creating some minor firestorms. This is his fourth Top-65 ranking, and improved greatly on last year's No. 45. He also has one top-25 finish (No. 24 in 2005).

32. 80sramfan - 80s will make you rip your hair out one day, and then have you laughing hysterically the next. He is a rollercoaster of a poster, sometimes posting outrageous comments to get a reaction, and sometimes truly believing the things he says are true. Either way, he's as entertaining as it gets. He dropped significantly in the rankings this year due to several stretches of inactivity. He earned a career-best No. 8 ranking last year, and had one other Top-25 ranking (No. 21) in 2003. He's been in the Top 65 every year since 2002.

33. zjb58 - Went through a learning process of how to balance RamNation time and work time. The former student poster powerhouse graduated last year and took a job in North Dakota. His posting production dropped significantly, but when he was around, he still had solid takes and debates. He remains a very good poster with a good track record. In his rookie season in 2004, as only a sophomore in college, finished 10th and then followed it up with a No. 17 ranking in 2005 and No. 23 ranking in 2006.

34. Big Apple RAM - Came back so strong this year that he earned Comeback Poster of the Year honors. Big Apple RAM's RamNation career continues to see-saw ride. It seems like every other year he comes back strong. He arrived in 2004 with an Honorable Mention, then cracked the rankings at No. 22 ranking in 2005, only to disappear a bit and drop to Honorable Mention again in 2006. He didn't quite get back to Top-25 status this year, but No. 34 isn't too shabby.

35. Mountain Ram - Mountain Ram sure knows the CSU Rams, past and present. We enjoy his viewpoints and his takes. MR has one Top 25 performance, and several others in the Others Receiving Votes category. He's a solid poster every year.

36. Ram Guidon-Bearer - We like his takes, and his great depth of knowledge and CSU history. If he posted more often, he'd be a Top 25er for sure. This is the highest ranking ever for the former vcrRAMfan.

37. zstory - Despite his move to Alaska, he has managed to stay in touch enough to remain in the rankings. In fact, he had such a solid year that he improved 14 spots over last year's No. 50 ranking. He's made the Top 65 three years straight now.

38. RamSack - RamSack holds pat in the 30s, basically on the strength of his CSU news research and good insight of CSU basketball. He was also invaluable during the men's basketball coaching search as he compiled an in-depth list of candidates and kept the board abreast of numerous possibilities. He also follows basketball recruiting closely. RamSack has been in the Top 65 every year since the site's inception in 2001, averaging a ranking of No. 29, including No. 16 in 2004 and No. 14 in 2001.

39. Ram Fan1 - Was very good at times this year, but not quite a steady enough presence to stay at the level he exhibited last year. He narrowly missed the Top 25 last year, coming in at No. 26, and dropped 13 spots this year. He has never cracked the Top 25, but has stayed strong in this range for several years.

40. tk61 - This Wyo fan has been around for several years and has blended in so well that you almost forget he's a 'Poke. We like him because he doesn't act like a typical Wyo fan, shows cordiality, and engages in some great sports talk (as well as talk on the GDB). This is his first appearance in the Top 65 after two straight years on the Honorable Mention list.

41. nebRAMska - Sometimes you wonder if he really loves the Rams, since he's always talking about how small-time the Rams are compared to his other favorite team-the Nebraska Cornhuskers. But, he is typically a good contributor to conversations and will occasionally crack you up. This is his second Top 65 appearance (the other was No. 61 last year), and he has two Honorable Mentions.

42. bcover11 - One of the better younger posters to grace the board. Doesn't post as often as we'd like, but is typically a solid contributor. This is bcover's second straight Top-65 performance.

43. lil zozza - Like bcover11, is another young contributor, who is sharp and funny. Has consistently proven to be a better poster than his older brother, Zozza…at least in posting frequency! This is lil zozza's second straight Top 65 ranking.

44. I'm Your Huckleberry - Has been known to post some very creative messages that have been up for consideration in the Post of the Year category. Was fairly active during football season, but his posting frequency dropped off quite a bit in the offseason. He misses the Top 25 for the first time in four years.

45. Cowtown Buff - The former Boulder Buff moved to Fort Worth this year, and changed his handle. He has been a great poster, despite the fact that he's a Buffalo. He makes no apologies for being loyal to CU, but also co-exists with Ram fans on a daily basis and is a solid contributor to both the Ramblings and General Discussion Boards. He has now made the Top 65 two years in a row, and jumped up by 19 spots.

46. IBARamfan - He sort of gets lost in the shuffle, but had a solid year. Nothing flashy, just contributes here and there. He has good knowledge of the Rams, and also is able to get you laughing with one-liners. It is his second straight Top-65 appearance.

47. CSUFizzer - Is close to the football program, and is able to share inside information on a regular basis. It is Fizzer's third straight appearance in the Top 65.

48. Scooter Ram - If he posted more often, he'd be a perennial Top 25. Has great inside information, and breaks a lot of scoops. He's finished in the Others Receiving Votes column for three straight years now after making an appearance in the Top 25 in 2004 (under the name Jedi Ram).

49. Phi Slamma Ramma - Comes across like a know-it-all, but it's a style that is entertaining. Has strong opinions and doesn't shy away from arguments. He has now made the Top 65 every year since 2003.

50. SYKOBUFF - Has become a great poster after an early history of getting under people's skin. He has developed a great sense of humor, can ridicule his beloved Buffs, can dish out some good-natured ribbing, and can also handle it with a laugh when he gets it in return. It is his first appearance in the rankings since his first-ever mention as an Honorable Mention in 2004.

Top Dropouts from 2006

Seven members of the 2006 Top 25 dropped out, which was one less than the number of dropouts from last year. That's still a fair amount of turnover, and we even had a Top 10 member plummet.

25. I'm Your Huckleberry - Huckleberry edged his way into the Top 25 with a late surge in 2006, but a lack of posting hurt him in 2007, falling 19 spots to No. 44 this year.

24. le alpe d huez - Alpo still had a very good year, but dropped two spots to No. 26 to narrowly miss the Top 25 for the first time in four years. An extensive job search and new job hindered his posting ability for an extended period, otherwise he would be in.

23. zjb58 - Our cocky little former student found out what it's like to join the real world, and wasn't able to post near as often as he did while a student at CSU. His brash takes and deep sports knowledge kept him close this year at No. 33.

18. Ramdom - Ramdom came on strong last year, showing off his football knowledge and sharing his passion for the game. This year, however, it seems his posts were devoted only towards criticizing the football coaching staff, and we missed his other usually spot-on analyses of on-field happenings. He also wasn't around as much this year, and therefore, he plummeted all the way to the Honorable Mention list.

14. tweeter - One of our best-ever posters due to his vast recruiting knowledge, wasn't near as active this year and he dropped out of the Top 25 for the first time since joining the board in 2002. He came in at a respectable No. 30 this year.

13. RAM SMITH #24 fan - A great poster who suffered from periods of inactivity this year. The time he did spend on the board were good enough to keep him near the Top 25, as he was on the edge at No. 27. It's the first time that he's missed the Top-25 rankings since 2002.

8. 80sRamFan - 80s is the equivalent of a shock jock on the radio. He was excellent at times this year and always provides entertainment. However, he was far too quiet this year and dropped significantly in the rankings to No. 32.

Conclusion

As always, to honor our elite posters, each will receive a special icon to commemorate their achievement in 2006-07. These icons will be good until next year's rankings are released, at which time everyone will reset. The top-25 posters will have 25-horn icons, and Nos. 26-65 are honored with the 65-horn icons. Doc normally would receive a No. 1 icon, but since he is already a Hall of Famer, his HOF icon trumps all, and will be the icon shown by his handle. All Hall of Famers will feature HOF icons, which they will retain forever.

As the population of the site continues to grow, and as more and more talented posters come to the site, our job of putting together accurate rankings becomes more difficult. I congratulate and thank all of you for your participation, as the RamNation message boards just continue to get stronger and stronger and full of entertainment each year. We now have 4,000 registered posters on board, so if you have made the list today, you should be proud of your accomplishment. You are truly the elite of RamNation (either that or you have more expendable free time).

We do admit, and apologize in advance that inevitably, we will mistakenly omit a couple of deserving posters each year. As a one-person voting committee it is nearly impossible to not let a person or two slip through the cracks while compiling the rankings. If you're upset about it, shake it off and come back stronger next year. Post more often, as it is much easier for us to remember you when the voting time comes.

Thank you as always for spending your free time on RamNation. You are what make this site great. Go Rams!
