2007 Awards and Rankings: Top Posts of the Year

Sixth-place post of the year

We try to keep our Post of the Year candidates to a list of five. Sometimes we extend that for special circumstances. Well, just one day before the 2007 rankings came out, there was a passionate post from aggieram76 that we had to include in this year's Post of the Year finalists. He was commenting on the athletic department's commitment to increasing the budget for all sports and the importance of fans getting involved financially.

Subject: As with many who posted earlier I pleased to see the $1MM

Commitment! But... as Dylan said, "You don't need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows!" The NEW $300k has to come from US!

I can't believe folks are touting an increase in student fees. Every athletic facility built and remodled (with the exception of Christiansen field and the Stryker gift) have been built on student fees! Every time tuition and fees go up a scholly price goes up the Department's costs go up.

Folks have been calling for better promotion(Ram Town), marketing(Mini- ticket packs) flexible FUNdraising (RC payment plan&Golf tourneys), and scheduling (UCal) and when the Department responds we get 3 days of BELLYACHING! The board was filled with a crybaby whining about tickets that are not being sold to folks who don't join the Ram Club, don't buy season tickets, don't do a thing for their alma mater, from what I can see, all they do for STATE is bitch about it!

There is no free lunch, some folks eat for free but some one is paying for it. I have a stake in improving society and for doing a bit more than carrying my own weight. My reward is I'm called, "A SAP" by a conservative[?] skinflint who whines and trys to eat at the trough for free! But those of us who do carry our weight, and do support society, our neighbors, community and alma mater have to carry their fat, selfish, johncaldera-douglasbruce-karlrove asses on our backs and when we stand up an say, "NO! No more!" they cry "FOUL!"

The $300k has to come from ALL of us. Heck if the 40k metro alumni would send STATE a $100 a year $4MM could flow into remodling Clark instead of student fees. We can't continue to rely on the Stryker's, Warners, and Monforts generosity to lift us periodically in making this wonderful University GREAT!

Thousands of great, generous, proud alumni giving a little annually like the folks at texasA&M (Dr Bill Morgan's alma mater and his model in the 50s & 60s) will make your University GREAT and raises the prestige and value of the degree you already hold!

$300k is less than $2 from every liviing alumnus! It's MY responsibility, its YOUR responsiblity, its OUR responsiblity!

GO RAMS!!!
