2004 Awards and Rankings: Trivia Answers

So, how'd you do? The answers are listed below. Give yourself credit if you were somewhat in the ballpark on the tougher questions.

1. What poster was temporarily put on probation after posting a picture of a woman, in a somersault position, wearing a thong?

"bunsbuggy"

2. The poster formerly known as "Buffalo Century", a CU fan but RamNation frequenter, (and "Good SHEP" basher) now goes by what handle?

59Buff

3. What 2003 Top 25 poster "retired" from the message board after getting frustrated with fans' criticisms of Dexter Wynn and other players?

Brother of Future, who is the older brother of starting Ram quarterback Justin Holland. BOF added in his farewell post that he didn't want to be around in the fall when fans started bashing his brother.

4. During the 2004 RamNation/athletic director forum in January, athletic director Mark Driscoll "dissed" what poster who had asked a question Driscoll did not want to answer?

JoeyBtheRealAD. JBAD had asked Driscoll what the payout would be for the CSU/USC game in September, to which Driscoll sharply replied, "I don't want to talk about that." Joey took it hard, and then voiced his displeasure for months on the message board. Joey got his revenge a couple months later when he refused to shake Driscoll's hand at the Green and Gold game breakfast.

5. Two-part question: In a grass roots bowl ticket fundraiser on the message board, RamNationers were spurned on by what poster, who pledged to match up to $5000 for a bowl ticket fundraiser? How much did RamNation ultimately raise for the athletic department?

"SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP" was the generous poster who donated $5000 of his own money to match the $5000 raised by posters after just one day. SD&SU's company matched a portion of the donation and RamNationers continued the fundraiser, collecting around $30,000 for the athletic department.

6. Who won the 2004 RamNation/Rams Bookstore March Madness contest and donated his Rams Bookstore gift certificate to "CSU Rambunctious" after learning that Bunctious' apartment had burned down, taking most of his CSU gear with it?

"Go Duke".

And, for the record, "I Bleed Green" also donated the gift certificate he earned for taking third place. In addition, RamNationers raised more than $700 to cover Rambunctious' $500 homeowner's insurance deductible, as well as buy a couple hundred dollars worth of new Ram gear. Some people helped in other ways…like "TD Elvis" donating a computer so that 'Bunctious wouldn't miss any RamNation time.

7. What CU fan often posts a picture of a blow-up sheep doll?

"le alpe de Huez"

8. What RamNation poster (and his wife) made Cincinnati Skyline Chili to share at a RamNation tailgate party this year?

Ram_Buck (Alan) and his wife Julia made their fantastic recipe, which was a big hit with hungry Ram fans.

9. RamNation's representative foursome of Go Duke, Doc, JoeyB, and Three RAM Night took what place in the 2004 GRC golf tournament back in May. What was their score?

The fellas shot a blazing 53 (18-under par at the par-71 SouthRidge golf course) en route to a first-place finish in the tournament. They earned personalized Colorado State golf bags for their victory. Ironically, the foursome nearly didn't even play in the tournament. When an extra foursome became available in the already-sold-out event a couple weeks prior to tee off, the four Ram diehards outbid everyone else to have a right to buy the foursome, and became the last four entrants in the field.

10. What RamNation regular has constantly clamored for a "bumpable message board"?

L.A. Rampage. He claims it preserves the best board topics and eases board viewing. He has been on a several-month all-out crusade to plead his case. Unfortunately for LAR, he won't get his wish, at least not anytime soon. Within year, we hope to have installed a new system that allows users to customize their views, which will give users like LAR more freedom to set up the message board view the way he/she likes it. But, it won't be a true "bumpable board" style, and we probably will never go that route. We are more preferable to styles similar to the current board that better promote conversation.

11. Multiple Choice: Who of the following people DID NOT post on the RamNation message board this year:
a) Athletic director Mark Driscoll
b) Men's basketball coach Dale Layer
c) Running back Tristan Walker
d) Football coach Sonny Lubick
e) All of the above

Answer is D: Sonny Lubick. He has, in the past (with the help of assistant Linda Krier), posted a message to thank fans for their support and coaching staff gifts, but has not posted this year. Driscoll, Layer, and Walker all posted at various times during the year. Driscoll posted to thank RamNationers for their fundraising efforts during bowl ticket sales last year, Layer has posted a couple of times to thank fans for their support and to give program updates, and Walker posted a "goodbye" message after it was first reported he was leaving the football team.

12. RamNationers raised more than $1,000 to present gifts to the CSU volleyball coaches after the team's banner year in 2003. We presented each of the three coaches with an engraved Ram statue, and gave head coach Tom Hilbert two acrylic volleyball cases. What was the third thing we gave each of the coaches?

Each of the coaches received a $100 gift certificate (actually $105 to even out all of our remaining dollars) to their respective favorite restaurants.

13. What RamNation poster correctly predicted the Trifecta of the Kentucky Derby?

BVP4Heisman03 nailed that one, and when he didn't receive his due props by fellow 'Nationers, he let them know about it the next day.

14. What media member regularly visited the RamNation tailgate parties before CSU home football games?

Randy Holtz, who was on a one-season hiatus from CSU football coverage, kicked back a few beers with Ram fans in Tailgate Spot No. 12.

15. "bunsbuggy" often posts pictures of what local media figure, which one time prompted the original photographer to email RamNation staff asking us to discontinue the use of the photo?

Denver weatherwoman Kathy Sabine, from Channel 9 News.

5-8=RamNation bandwagoner (definitely aren't spending enough quality time on the Nation)

0-4=Troll (you must be a Buff or Poke fan who only occasionally pops his/her head in.)
