2001 Awards and Rankings: Top 65 Rankings

Return to Ranking & Awards History Homepage
2001 Specialty Awards

And now...the moment we've all been waiting for. The Top 25!!! Here we go…counting backwards from No. 25 to No. 1. (FYI-following the Top 25 is an "Others Receiving Votes" column consisting of the next-best 40 posters outside of the prestigious Top 25.)

No. 25 sac-o-cam-Unlike a blonde supermodel with a small IQ, sac-o-cam has the great name with good posts. Granted, many of his posts are short and sweet, and he's mostly a responder, rather than a thread starter…but let's face facts here…he's got the best handle on the board, and it takes him a long way. It was a close call between him and several others atop the "Others Receiving Votes" column, but his namesake gave him the advantage he needed to sneak in.

No. 24 Brother of Future-The highly vocal brother of incoming star Justin Holland, BOF has quickly earned his way into the limelight. It's not often I will rank such an unseasoned newcomer so highly…but I'm going out on a limb with this choice. True, sometimes power hitters like BOF can show up in dramatic fashion (i.e., eleMeNohPee) and then fade away after a few months. However, with his brother in the mix for years to come, I figured it's a fair assumption BOF will maintain his interest and continue to provide his opinions and insight. You have to give a guy credit for revealing his identity to the world and fearlessly posting his opinions, which have sometimes been brutally honest. But I think everyone agrees that his thoughts have been more than valuable over the past few months.

No. 23 Rammies-Just call him "two-bit"…he's always there to chime in with his opinion…he's a year-round regular, and during football season in particular, makes an appearance just about every day. He's a no-nonsense-type poster who cordially gives his opinions and never flames on anyone. Rammies is also a big reason RamNation is up and running, as he offered to share his expertise with me and show me how to create the frontpage. For that alone...he gets extra consideration.

No. 22 WyoRamFan-The board weatherman, who we rely on to give us the early forecast on gamedays, also provides other good content to RamNation. He's often providing links to interesting stories or other tidbits and is good with engaging in football discussion. Also, just like he enjoys monitoring barometric pressures, WyoRamFan is a guy who likes to keep his eye on preseason polls and various magazine rankings and keeps everyone informed when a new college football poll comes out.

No. 21 RAMbler-The fall of a legend? Not quite. A previous No. 1 finisher, this wise old sage has gone into hibernation a bit, particularly during the offseason. But when active, his knowledge, lengthy tenure, and poetic prose are long-lasting enough to carry him during the offseason. His posts are among the best this board has to offer. His sense of history, combined with knowledge of present-day CSU programs (he follows not only football and basketball, but is also an avid supporter of women's basketball and volleyball). The quantity of his posts has waned a tad, and his long missives are sorely missed. But this legend deserves the benefit of the doubt…and in my book could go an entire year of not posting and still crack the Top 25, just because of his past performance. It's like Cal Ripken getting invited to the All-Star game despite owning a batting average that lingers around the Mendoza line. Besides, by being a past champ, he's earned exemption. I'm sure he'll be back in force anyways as the football season arrives.

No. 20 RambleOn-One of several people on this board who see RamNation as a forum to spread the gospel of the Greater Ram Club. He's often boldly begging to the masses to buy season tickets and donate to the Greater Ram Club. He's abundant with ideas and has been a regular on the RamStorming Board. He's a fan who likes to discuss many of the off-the-field issues, rather than the on-field details. He helps provide a great range of discussions.

No. 19 sacRAMento-In peak season, sacRAMento plasters the board with his presence…not usually with more than a paragraph or two to say…but it's strength in numbers with this guy. It's nice to see him looming on the board, even during slow posting days. Although he barely missed the cut on the Top-10 anti-Buff posters list, he certainly is one quick to counter any "Fluff" attacks.

No. 18 Trophy Ram-Our favorite trophy shop owner has stayed strong throughout his tenure in RamNation. He was ranked amongst the best last year…and kept his position, by consistently posting good topics-flame-free-through both football and basketball season. He and I have some sort of strange brain connection, as we have eerily posted similar comments or links at within seconds of each other on the board. Anyone who thinks like me must be a good guy.

No. 17 WEB-His solid BYU bashing is what this guy is known for. But it's not all he's good for. WEB, particularly during the season, rises to the top in his post content. An avid reader of the preseason digests, WEB is privy to every stat imaginable, and could tell you how many times CSU has covered the point spread as a road dog on Astroturf in the past 50 years. You see, WEB is a bookmaker's nightmare, as he can dissect the numbers as well as Jimmy the Greek, Joe Lupo, or Alan Boston. It's nice to have some gambling know-how on the board, and WEB certainly brings it. Billions of dollars are thrown across the gambling industry every college football season. I'm sure a few RamNationers have dabbled in it a tad. ;)

No. 16 Doc-A solid performer during the season. His posting frequency numbers have wanted a tad during the offseason, but he's a prime-time player when the ball is in the air. Our good 'ole board physician is brimming with intelligence and always keeps a level head…except of course when "CSWho" gets in his kitchen. ;) How he finds time to post so frequently during the season, I have no idea. All I can say is, now I know why patients have to wait so long when at the doctor's office. In Doc's case, I think it's because he's posting on RamNation. Doc loves football, but his best strength may come during basketball season…as he is truly one of our best basketball fans.

No. 15 ROBORAM-A versatile poster, who is one of the board comedians, ROBO always has me cracking up. But, there can be a serious side to him too…and when he isn't being funny, he can discuss a variety of issues and particularly knows the football team very well. However, I really enjoy watching ROBORAM get riled up by CU posters…and nobody can quite get him going like BFiO can. Besides, he's the one guy who convinced me to take my Ram putter out of the safe confines of its protective cover in my office and put it to use on the golf course. I've since become much better on the greens. Thanks ROBO.

No. 14 RamSack-He's a well-informed poster, who always knows the news scoop the minute it comes out. He's often been the first to post a link to a breaking story…and then shares his opinion, which often sparks a quality discussion. He has had a knack for instigating good threads on a variety of topics. RamSack (who barely missed the cut on the Top 15 handles list) is one of the most involved posters on the board. His posting frequency over the past six months has been amongst the Nation's best.

No. 13 RamSquad-RamSquad first registered in RamNation on Halloween last year…and he's been a scary-good poster ever since (God, that was lame). As an employee for a local newswire company, he's a well-informed guy, who posts his opinions on almost a daily basis (he also has drudged up some good links). RamSquad is another poster who rose out of obscurity by posting with great frequency and has become a reliable regular on the board. To top it off, RamSquad is also a member of the Top 10 Anti-Buff Posters.

No. 12 Q.Ram-A mathematical whiz, many of you remember Q.Ram for his complex rankings formulas and detailed NCAA Football Playoff plans. He's also a guy who knows our football and basketball teams like the back of his hand, and is often defending his opinion with other Ram fans on player skills. What also makes Q.Ram a valuable poster is his knowledge of the Mountain West Conference as a whole.

No. 11 Da'Rams!!- Approaching his one-year anniversary in the Nation, Da'Rams!! Quickly grew his status as one of the best posters we have. He is another poster who has logged many minutes on the message board…as he has posted with great frequency…almost on a daily basis. During the offseason, that's pretty impressive, and it's guys like this who keep the board alive and kicking when football is months away. He's a guy who can be funny at times…and I respect his opinions.

No. 10 GO STATE-What a bookworm. Our favorite real-world-worker-turned-grad-school-student usually makes his appearance at night or on weekends…proving that indeed he is hitting the books. Good job, STATE…But come football season, we better hope he finds the Clif Notes version of those text books…because we need this guy on the board. He's a knowledgeable fan that brings a lot to RamNation. He's also a true die hard…last Halloween, I ran into GO STATE downtown…the stud was dressed as Sonny Lubick.

No. 9 WashParkRam-WashParkRam has been around RamNation since it's inception, and has been a solid performer for the duration. He's perhaps one of the most frequent posters we've had on the board…and he's done it over the long haul, day in and day out. When I think of WPR, I always think of his funny comments, and his witty reactions to CU posts. He certainly has a chip on his shoulder, and challenges any Buff poster to knock it off. However, he's also as knowledgeable fan, who can discuss any CSU-related topic thoroughly. I enjoy reading his posts on a daily basis.

No. 8 #27sMrs-The top female poster on the board, this ewe is also one of the best overall. If she had been around longer, she'd be ranked even higher. Her knowledge of CSU…and particularly CSU pre-1990s is excellent. The wife of a former player, #27sMrs offers us a unique point of view. She became very active on the board during the weeks surrounding the Tim Weiser forum, and has been knowledgeable in the search for a new AD. She's in tune with Fort Collins community issues and has shared valuable opinions on the athletic department's relationship with the local community. Also, #27sMrs proclaimed that as a direct result of the people and posts on RamNation, she and her husband donated to the Greater Ram Club for the first time this year. I love that.

No. 7 Ram_Buck-The former CO Buck, whose name is derived from his passion for both CSU and The Ohio State University, checks in at No. 7 for several reasons. Ram_Buck has a broad range of knowledge…and in fact, is one of our best basketball minds on the board, both men and women. He's an avid supporter of women's hoops and volleyball perhaps even before men's hoops and football, which is nice to have on the board, because posters with vast knowledge in those other areas are few and far between on this board. Don't get me wrong, Ram_Buck also knows his football, and posts regularly during the season. For those of you unfamiliar with Ram_Buck, he's the one who is constantly comparing CSU with Ohio State and the University of North Dakota. ;)

No. 6 CSURamFan-One of the bigger fans we have on this board…and even contributed to the look of RamNation. See his own homepage (CSURamFan's homepage) and see where RamNation's "Countdown Clock" originated from. CSURamFan calls 'em like he sees 'em. If he doesn't like something, he'll let you know. He's not a pat-you-on-your-back type of poster…if a Ram fan crosses the line of good taste in his opinion, LOOK OUT. He's a pioneer on this board, because he's the first guy I ever remember lashing out at a fellow Ram fan on the board…and certainly isn't afraid to argue his opinions or call into question certain comments…from both CSU fans and opponents fans. This is extremely healthy for a good board. If you ever want to meet this top-25 poster, he can be found tailgating front and center at every home game.

No. 5 babybull-Quite an accomplishment to crack the top 5, particularly since he's such a rookie to the board. However, from his first appearance a couple months ago, he has proven to be a bastion of knowledge. He's a regular at CSU practices, often giving RamNationers "the inside scoop" on what's happening, and providing interesting updates. What makes him even more valuable though is that despite his loyalty to CSU, he's not afraid to post his opinions…even the ones he knows will be unpopular. By his own admission, he's an older guy…almost sage-like…hauntingly similar to our beloved RAMbler. Is he the next RAMbler? Time will tell if babybull will be around the Nation as long as RAMbler has. So far so good though.

No. 4 RamMan-Perhaps our most passionate fan in SoCal, RamMan is a genuine poster, concerned primarily with issues of fan support, budgeting, and scheduling…not to mention marketing, as he's currently in grad school studying just that. And as he learns, we regularly see his new ideas pop up on the board. In fact, the RamStorming Board was RamMan's brainchild. It's true, sometimes his posts need a table of contents and an index because they are so long…but he's a legend on the board, who has been around since the Ramblings Board days…and his insight makes us all better.

No. 3 Dall Ram-King of the one-liners. Here's a guy who's not so much a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy as he is a side-of-corn kind of guy. Dall Ram is perhaps the funniest poster on the board. His serious posts are certainly few and far between compared to his humorous ones…and that's where he scores his points. Everyone has a class clown…Dall Ram is RamNation's board clown. ("Ever see a grown man naked?") This laid-back, ski-bum provides a refreshing break from the constant bickering and daily grind that sometimes plagues RamNation. Dall Ram recently came up with a poem for RamNation (click here to read). The poem didn't do much to sway my voting…it didn't have to. Dall Ram has been posting those types of howitzers since as long as I can remember.

No. 2 Stalwart Ram-Stalwart recently reminded me of one of his gem posts, which he posted earlier this year. But he didn't have to remind me…that one had already been etched in my mind. If I didn't have such a superior memory, it may be easy to lose track of that excellent post. You see, Stalwart has hundreds of them. A true CU player hater, Stalwart comes up with gems on a daily basis…most of them having to do with thwarting CU posters. While an extremely funny guy--a couple of different posters have commented on the fact that he's one of the funniest posters on the board--Stalwart also has a serious side to him, and will kick any Buff's tail in a CSU/CU debate. If you're bored someday, do a 200-post search of Stalwart Ram's past posts. I'd say 80 percent of them are CSU/CU arguments. Stalwart Ram has quickly risen to the cream of the crop in RamNation.

No. 1 RAM-I-AM-A true powerhouse on the RamNation circuit. RAM-I-AM as been a strong presence since the day he arrived…he incorporates humor, research, and intelligence in every single post. Talk about value: this guy can discuss a wide range of topics-CU, the MWC, coaching philosophies, depth problems, fan base woes, and more. Although we have many outstanding posters on the board, this choice was easy for me. It's simple: When I see RAM-I-AM's handle on the board, I immediately click it to see what he has to say. He's not the type of guy to bust out with an inside scoop…but he certainly can generate exceptional in-depth conversations. Also in his arsenal is the ability to battle the Dark Side (CU). He's been known to not only rebuke CU fans' comments, but also take the offensive and lead a factually based attack on CU fans. He's such a master at this, that many CU fans call him a spin master. And that he is. He has the ability to turn any negative into a positive when it comes to the Rams. He's also unique in the fact that he's attended both CSU and CU. How somebody could have attended both schools, only to love one and hate the other is beyond me. But it's awesome. A man after my own heart. ;) Statistics show he's one of the most read posters on the board. He's certainly more than deserving of the top spot. Join Sonny and I in congratulating and applauding RAM-I-AM as the 2001 Top-Ranked Poster in RamNation.

Remember…there's always next year to surge into the limelight.

Regardless, thanks to everyone for being a part of RamNation.com...Even those of you who only read the board and never register. We are grateful to have you here. Stay with us as we get bigger and better!

Now, bring on the football season!!!!!!!!!!!
