Let's start with the individual awards and other tidbits...

CSU fans, to put it mildly, dislike CU and its fans. Some fans have chosen to pay homage to their CU disgust through their handles. For instance, here's a sample of a few fans' handles:

"CSU 28 CU 24" (formerly CSU 41 CU 14), "antibuff", "Boulder Sucks", "ramthebuffs", "csu4114", and "two in a row." However, some fans take it a step further and back up their loathing for CU through their posts. I've compiled a Top 10 list of the best Anti-Buff Posters. This was a toughie, because we have so many. But these 10 have always stood out to me:

…which leads me to No. 1 on the list of Anti-Buff Posters--the recipient of the Matt Newton Award-Hey, Newt was the best Buff slayer there ever was…so this award goes to the RamNation poster who best wards off Buff fans. This was a close one. There are so many caped crusaders out there who do their darndest to fight off the forces of the dark (black and gold) empire, but this award has to go to…"Stalwart Ram" . If you see a disparaging Buff post…Stalwart is usually first on the scene, and won't quit until the Buff poster leaves. His quick-wit, sharp (but usually clean) tongue, and factual knowledge always seem to get the goat of "BFiO" , "CSWho" , "Buffalo Century" , "SYKOBUFF" , etc. I'm not one to get caught up into too much back-and-forth bickering with CU fans, so it's good to have guys like Stalwart Ram out there who can do it for me.

I know there's a lot more of you Buff haters out there. But you're not making enough of an impression on me…so take note all you Ram fans reeling from your lack of appearance in the Top 10 of this anti-Buff category--There's always next year. Get to work.

WEB Award-Well, you can probably figure out what this award goes to-the biggest BYU basher. And wouldn't you know it…the award is named after the recipient. There isn't even a close second. Everyone claims to "hate" BYU, but "WEB" lives and breathes it. Should a Cougar fan dare show his face, be it in kindness or in the heat of battle, WEB drives him back to Provo with a relentless attack. Most admirably, WEB does not do this in such a distasteful fashion, but rather gathers fact upon fact to support his barbs. He does not let fans of BYU (who WEB dubs "Los Provos") forget the fact that CSU has taken over the reigns of the conference. And he particularly enjoyed driving daggers into Cougar fans once "Old Man Winter" or "Bitter Beer Face" Lavelle Edwards retired. Speaking of retire, we may as well just retire this award, because I doubt anybody will be able to unseat good 'ole WEB from this throne anytime soon.

Wyatt Thomspon Award-Goes to the biggest homer in RamNation (I love Wyatt, but he's never said a bad word about CSU since I've been listening to him.) Is there any doubt who this award should go to? It's none other than the jovial, glass-always-half-full, endlessly and hopelessly optimistic "CSU Rambunctious." Every board has its protagonist-a true, unwavering homer. 'Bunctious is certainly the epitome of that. If CSU went 0-11 this year, he'd still be singing praises. Gotta love it. 'Bunctious earned this award last year…and frankly will probably be the reigning champ until the end of time.

Lee Corso Award-Every board has its antagonist also. We've got several here. Let's get something straight though…this is a dubious award…not one to be proud of. ;) It goes out to fans of other schools, who make it their daily duty in life to visit RamNation and harass us CSU folk. Although we certainly have our main Buff enemies in "BFiO" and "CSWho" , as well as several troublemakers from Wyoming, this award is going to Utah Utes supporter "STEVE SMITH FAN." I hate to give him the satisfaction of knowing he's getting recognition for this, but the guy deserves it...He has very little knowledge, poor grammar, weak takes, and seeks to do nothing but agitate fans of a school who his beloved Utes can't seem to beat. At least BFiO has some football knowledge. The same cannot be said for STEVE SMITH FAN…he is truly our nemesis.

Ewe Award-Goes to the best female poster on the board. There have been several good female contributors to the board over the past year. First off, let me just say that our male-to-female ratio is hideous. We definitely need some more women around here. However, the ones we do have are great. Posters like "Cami" , "CS Ewe" , "CalRam" , "jlloyd" , "Ram Mama" , "RamFanz" , and recent newcomer"ramzma" have added solid value to the board at times. But my vote has to go to "#27sMrs." Being the wife of a former Ram player, she is very knowledgeable, and has offered some great info and insight to the board. Not sure if any of these fine ladies are single…but I couldn't imagine anything more appealing…a woman who is a diehard Ram fan. ;)

Fum McGraw Award--This award goes to the best poster who is an actual athlete or former athlete. Believe it or not, there are several current athletes who are registered. While not many post, they certainly are here to check things out. That being said, this choice was easy. Despite Jason Speciner's appearance under the name "Jibi00" to the board last year after signing a letter of intent with the Rams…my choice is still easy…The only athlete who has posted anytime recently is James Sondrup ("Sondrup_TE_89" ). Our beloved hometown TE came on the board and flat-out said "ask me anything you want and I'll be here to answer it"…and he has. STUD. Tear 'em up this season, James.

Donnie Boyce Award-This award goes to the most tolerable Buff poster. All Buffs are enemies, but some are more tolerable than the other. Just like Donnie Boyce…he's one CU guy who I didn't mind…seemed like a good guy. I've never really had any empathy for any Buff…but when Boyce broke his leg and essentially lost out on an NBA career…I truly felt bad for the guy. Without question, "Buffsin2001" fits this mold of being a tolerable Buff (if ever there was such a thing). In fact, he's almost likeable. He can carry on a conversation by staying civil, often has complimentary things to say towards CSU and its fans, and most of all, is knowledgeable about CSU history, having grown up in Fort Collins. I think we just may be able to convert him over from the dark side if we try hard enough. ;)

Bubba Baker Award-One of CSU's most famous alums, Al "Bubba" Baker, was probably the first "celebrity" to make an appearance on RamNation when he posted under the name "Bubba" last year…and several Ram fans actually bought his "world famous" barbeque sauce because of it. So in honor of Bubba, this award goes out to RamNation's best "celebrity" poster. The winner is: "John Riegel." Many Ram fans complain that he's a CU homer and that he doesn't talk enough about the Rams on the radio…but he's one of the few local sports talk radio personalities who actually does research…and by far talks the most college football than any other sports talk guy in Denver. He's been standup enough to respond to Ram posters who have called him out on the board…and occasionally makes an appearance to share Ram info.

Best Linker-This award ends in a tie…the post for best link provider goes to "Green & Gold" and "carnero." G&G is a linking maniac during the season, often providing several stories per day from various different publications. "carnero" finds very obscure stories and often provides great recruiting links and info.

Best User of the "Optional Image" feature-"Tim is a Ram" , basically for using his Monty Python flamethrower image in many of his posts. "ROBORAM" finished runner-up for his occasional rehashing of this image.

Cutest RamNation Baby--This one is by default, since it's the only picture I've received from a poster. But, dang is he cute. WEB's little baby Garrett is already brainwashed to love the green and gold. Look for him to be an O-lineman for the Rams in 18 short years, as this is no little tike. He's in the 95th percentile of all babies his age for height and weight. What a monster!

Sonny Lubick Award-Is that the greatest name in the world or what? And that's what this award goes to…best name (or "handle) on the board. There are some great ones on this board...here's my new Top 15:

And that's the end of the award segment...Which leads me to what the heck happened to…???

We've had some fans show up in RamNation like a hurricane…but then vanish without a trace months later. We've also had guys who had been around forever, and then gradually disappear. Who knows where they go. What the heck happened to…
