CU moves 2009 Showdown to Boulder; CSU counters by moving 2010 game to Fort Collins

The University of Colorado announced Friday afternoon it will move the 2009 Rocky Mountain Showdown vs. Colorado State to Folsom Field in Boulder. An hour later, CSU athletic director countered with announcement that the 2010 game, in turn, would be played at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium in Fort Collins.

Pears, Anderson, Wynn named to Mountain West 10th Anniversary Team

Henderson, Nev. -- Former Colorado State Rams Erik Pears, David Anderson and Dexter Wynn were named Tuesday to the Mountain West Conference 10th Anniversary team. The team was selected via a combined vote of media, institutional and conference personnel, as well as online fan polling.

CSU cross country star earns MWC's highest honor: Female Athlete of Year

Colorado State earned one of the most prestigious honors in the history of its athletic department on Tuesday. The Mountain West Conference named April Thomas, who won the conference’s 2007 individual cross country championship and earned her undergraduate degree with a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average, its 2007-08 Female Athlete of the Year.

Miles announces spring additions to Rams' basketball squad

Travis Franklin, Harvey Perry Jr. and Mame Bocar Ba have signed National Letters of Intent to play college basketball at Colorado State, Head Coach Tim Miles announced Tuesday. All three student-athletes will be eligible to begin competition for the Rams in the fall of 2008.

We're all touched by, and mourning the loss of our friend Bill "Doc" Sullivan, who was a regular contributor on the RamNation message boards since the site's inception eight years ago.
It was Bill’s desire that money be donated to the CSU Athletic Department in lieu of flowers. But we are setting our goal much higher because we believe Bill deserves it. Our goal is to endow a CSU athletic scholarship in the name of Dr. Bill Sullivan. We need your help.

Director of Athletics Paul Kowalczyk announced Wednesday that Jen Warden has been replaced as the school's head women's basketball coach. Kristen Holt, an assistant on the staff, has been named Warden's successor, effective immediately.

Lady Rams shock top seed Utah in quarterfinals; men beat Wyo in play-in game

In stunning fashion, the men's and women's basketball team, both winless in Mountain West Conference play this regular season, both won today to advance in the MWC tournament in Las Vegas. The men beat Wyoming 68-63 in the play-in game earlier in the day, and the women stunned top-seeded Utah 60-52 in the quarterfinals Wednesday night -- one day after upending UNLV in the play-in game.

Fairchild signs 25 in first recruiting class

New Colorado State head coach Steve Fairchild this afternoon announced his initial recruiting class. The class includes 21 current high school seniors and four junior college players. Three of the high school players are expected to delay their enrollment until 2009 and another will enroll in 2010 after spending two years on an LDS mission.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports today that former Colorado State head football coach Sonny Lubick will not accept the athletic department's offer for him to return CSU in a fundraising capacity. Lubick reportedly made his intentions known in a letter dropped off Wednesday at the McGraw Athletic Center for athletic director Paul Kowalczyk.
